European Football Preview – November 21

Facebooktwittermail

For Europe’s biggest footballing stars, attention turns back to their club commitments after the final international break for 2020.

With that brings the return of our European Football Preview with the five best bets from the continent.

This week I’m doubling down on action Germany and Italy while also taking a look at the blockbuster clash in Spain.

Read on to see this weekend’s tips.

FC Schalke Vs VFL Wolfsburg

Sunday 22 November, 1:30am, Veltins-Arena

Until Schalke wins its first Bundesliga fixture of the season, I’m more than happy to continue taking them on.

Three draws and four defeats from seven matches to go does not paint a pretty picture for the home side.

Wolfsburg have only won twice from seven starts but are yet to lose a match.

Last season when they travelled to the Veltins-Arena they hammered Schalke 4-1 and I’ll back them straight up at their current price.

Back Wolfsburg to Win @ $1.92

Hertha Berlin Vs Borussia Dortmund

Sunday 22 November, 6:30am, Olimpiastadion

Dortmund’s domestic form since losing the German Super Cup to Bayern Munich has been almost perfect.

They won their four league matches following that cup tie, keeping clean sheets in each match before dropping a classic 3-2 to Bayern before the international break.

Now they have a chance to return to the matches that they have been winning with 12th place Hertha Berlin up next.

Head to head Dortmund is a at good price for a multi-builder but in this instance, I’ll back them to win and over 2.5 goals.

Three of the last four head to head matches between these two have had three or more goals so I would not be surprised if this finishes with plenty of goals as well.

Back Dortmund to Win & Over 2.5 Goals @ $2.25

Juventus Vs Cagliari

Sunday 22 November, 6:45am, Allianz Stadium

It’s a total first world problem but Juventus is in the midst of their worst start to a league season in five years… with three wins and four draws from seven matches.

Three of those four draws have come in the last four league outings as positive COVID tests saw the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo miss matches.

Cagliari pulled off an upset when these teams met late last season but I’m backing a return to normal service in this one.

Prior to that defeat, Juventus had won the last seven head to head matches, six of which were to nil so that will be the basis of the play to make in this fixture.

Back Juventus to Win to Nil @ $2.45

Atletico Madrid Vs Barcelona

Sunday 22 November, 7:00am, Wanda Metropolitano

We’ve got a Sunday morning special from La Liga as Atletico Madrid tries to maintain its status as the last unbeaten team in Spain’s top flight.

They conceded their first two league goals of the season in their win over Real Betis a fortnight ago and Barcelona’s attack is starting to click, with 13 goals in their last five matches across all competitions.

Both sides will be desperate for a win and I would give the edge to Atletico in the head to head market but I don’t feel strongly enough to back it, but I do like the value on offer in a high scoring contest.

Over 3.5 Goals @ $2.75

Verona Vs Sassuolo

Monday 23 November, 1:00am, Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi

It’s been a great start to the season for Sassuolo, capitalising on the traditional powers being slow out of the gate to sit in second place so far.

They are one of three sides yet to lose a match while Verona has dropped just one match themselves, but their injury list is cause for concern with over half a dozen players set to miss this match.

Because of that injury list I’ll back the visitors to come away with three points.

Back Sassuolo to Win @ $2.10
