There are eight races taking place at Caulfield racecourse this Wednesday afternoon.
You can read our Caulfield Preview – Wednesday 16th December, which includes our betting suggestions below.
Race 1 - 2:40pm AEDT
Maiden Plate (1440m)
Three year old gelding Ord has been placed in all three of his career race starts including a very narrow second at Sandown last start over 1300m.
He should be nearing peak fitness at this stage in his prep and will appreciate the step up in distance now.
4 Units Ord
Race 2 - 3:15pm AEDT
Maiden Plate (1200m)
Real Gun is another who has placed in all three of his race starts to date.
The lightly raced four year old gelding fell half a length short at The Valley last start over 1200m and that form is good enough to be winning a race of this quality.
He has been well supported in early betting which suggests he is ready to break his maiden duck.

Race 3 - 3:50pm AEDT
Class 1 Handicap (1200m)
The Hayes and Dabernig trained Confidant is a gelding that has shown a fair amount of ability and looks well placed in this race.
He finished his last campaign with a fourth in the Albury Guineas where he finished within a length of the winner.
He fought on gamely with the big weight first up at Pakenham but will take plenty of improvement from the run.

Race 4 - 4:25pm AEDT
Benchmark 64 (1600m)
Sea Princess broke through for her maiden race win at Wangaratta at her fourth race start two back before finishing well at Sandown last start to finish fourth.
The daughter of Sebring was doing her best work late in that race and the step up to 1600m looks ideal for her at this stage in her prep.

Race 5 - 5:00pm AEDT
Benchmark 64 (1600m)
Dance Ready is a horse of some ability who has form around the smart Walking Flying last prep at both Sandown and Flemington over the 1600m.
The four year old gelding by More Than Ready showed his good turn of foot late in the race at Mornington last start to score in a good field and he looks over the odds in this event.
Has drawn perfectly in barrier four with Daniel Stackhouse booked to steer.

Race 6 - 5:30pm AEDT
Benchmark 70 Handicap (2000m)
This is a hot little race over the 2000m and I’m struggling to split two but it’s worth backing both in my opinion.
The last time Lord Bouzeron started at this track and distance he gave his rivals a walloping to the tune of 4.5 lengths.
His two runs this prep have been promising and he will be ready to peak now.
Astraeus was dominant when winning by 3.3 lengths at The Valley two back over 1600m and although this is his first start at 2000m, he looks well placed.

Race 7 - 6:00pm AEDT
Benchmark 64 Handicap (1440m)
Cabinho was last seen in the Silverbowl Final at Flemington back in July where he finished 2.6 lengths off the winner Walking Flying.
He was last on the turn that day and rattled home in between horses to finish on the heels of the place getters.
There is plenty of untapped ability in this lightly raced four year old and he can win first up.

Race 8 - 6:30pm AEDT
Benchmark 70 (1440m)
Brazen Song has been a consistent race mare throughout her 20 start career to date having placed 12 times.
All three of her runs this prep have been full of merit including an impressive 1.5 length win at Werribee last start.
She’s overs at around the $9.00 mark at time of publish.
