The Queensland Summer Racing Carnival continues this Saturday and there are nine races taking place at Doomben racecourse.
You can read our full Gold Edition Plate Day Preview, which includes our betting suggestions below.
Race 1 - 1:23pm AEDT
Benchmark 70 Handicap (1050m)
Derulo looks the obvious choice in the opening race of the day at Doomben on Saturday having won four of his five starts so far.
He started this campaign with back to back wins by a combined 9.5 lengths at Townsville and Cairns and whilst this is a step up in grade, he has the runs on the board already.

Race 2 - 1:58pm AEDT
Class 6 Handicap (1615m)
Picka Plum has managed six wins from 15 career race starts including a last start win at this track and distance.
She rises in both class and weight for this assignment but she represents good value at her current quote.

Race 3 - 2:33pm AEDT
Benchmark 75 Handicap (1200m)
Smart ‘N’ Sexy is a filly with untapped ability having won the Dalrello Stakes in her final race last prep.
She resumed from a spell in this Benchmark 75 race from the good barrier and looks a good chance to record her second race win from just six starts.

Race 4 - 3:12pm AEDT
Quality Handicap (2025m)
So You Win has been a very consistent type of his over his whole career and has barely put a foot wrong since making the trip up to Queensland.
He timed his run perfectly at this track and distance to win last start and although he does rise in weight for this race, he should get a plumb run in transit from barrier three.

Race 5 - 3:52pm AEDT
Class 3 Plate (1350m)
Hail Manhattan is very much over the odds at $17 at time of publish in the fifth race of the day at Doomben.
The son of Manhattan Rain was excellent when resuming at Ipswich and then narrowly won at the Gold Coast second up.
The step up in distance looks ideal at this stage in his prep and is worth an each way play.

Race 6 - 4:32pm AEDT
Benchmark 75 Handicap (1200m)
Kateru has managed three wins and three placings from 10 career starts and his win first up on the Gold Coast put the writing on the wall that he is in for a good prep.
This is another step up in grade now but he is a horse with a fair amount of ability and can out together back to back wins.

Race 7 - 5:12pm AEDT
Benchmark 85 Handicap (1110m)
Ruuca had excuses when finishing fourth when resuming at Doomben.
He missed the kick out of the barriers before hanging out badly during the race and also sustained a small injury.
The four year old gelding then came out and won impressively at Doomben and although this is a step up in grade, he has proven he can mix it with some pretty handy ones in the past.

Race 8 - 5:52pm AEDT
Listed Gold Edition Plate (1200m)
It’s full steam ahead for isotope heading toward the Gold Coast and she is a really exciting filly and should prove too good with even luck.
The run of Thunder Mania first up was excellent and the Snitzel colt has won second up in the past.
He also has a great record at 1200m so instead of backing the favourite, have a little something on him.
1 Unit E/W Thunder Mania
Race 9 - 6:30pm AEDT
Listed Lough Neagh Stakes (1350m)
I loved the way Outback Barbie finished off in the George Moore and once Michael Rodd knew he couldn’t catch the first two, he eased right off her.
She will appreciate the step up in trip and the good barrier.
I’m finding it hard not to have a little something on Soxagon who has been excellent behinf a couple of really good ones so far this prep.
If he can overcome the tricky gate, he can feature in the finish at a nice price.
