The Queensland Racing Carnival heads south to the Gold Coast this Saturday afternoon with a quality card of racing leading into the Magic Millions Raceday next weekend.
We’ve taken a look at all nine races on the program and offer our thoughts and betting suggestions below.
Chris Munce has a handy filly on his hands with grey filly Boomnova who has won her last two in a row at Doomben by a combined 3.3 lengths.
This is another step up in grade for the daughter of Spirit Of Boom but she looks up to the task.

Miss Hipstar is a little speed machine who is unbeaten in two race starts now.
She dominated her rivals to score by 3.5 lengths over the 800m at Ipswich last start but it wasn’t so much the margin rather than the time she ran that was so impressive.
This is another step up in class but she looks bomb proof to my eye.
2 Units Miss Hipstar
Character is having his first start for the James Cummings stable in the royal blue and has shown potential in two trials.
He will only improve on this effort as he gets out in distance but can win on pure talent.
Our Hot Friend has been competitive in some pretty good races and is well over the odds at $71.

The locally trained Unconditional has been runner up in his two starts this prep so far.
The son of Jetspur was not far away in both those hot little races and he looks really well placed in this Country Cup from barrier three.
2 Units E/W Unconditional
Sugar Boom is a fantastic little sprinter who has put together a really nice record to date.
The daughter of Spirit Of Boom has six wins and four placings from 14 career starts and the short course at the Gold Coast should suit.
The barrier isn’t an issue as she will cross over anyway.

I have a pretty high opinion of the four year old mare Intrepidacious and It would be fitting if she took out the Magic Millions Rising Star as I think she has a bit of a future.
She tried to lead all the way when beaten by Stolen Jade at Kembla Grange earlier this prep but she meets that horse far better at the weights, she will appreciate the step up in distance and she is much better taking a sit in behind horses in my opinion.

I have a query on Ruuca over the 1300m however the four year old is flying at the moment and we are getting a very nice each way price about him.
Love Express was impressive when winning at Doomben two back and has shown some ability in his short racing career.
He came from near last behind Smart ‘N’ Sexy last start and didn’t get clear running until late to finish on the heels of the placegetters.
1 Unit Ruuca
1/2 Unit E/W Love Express
Paradee is a high class mare racing in very good form and the 1800m at the Gold Coast looks ideal for her at this stage in her prep.
She’s put together back to back seconds leading into this assignment and she will get all the favours sitting on or near the pace from barrier three.
There is a black type race in the grey gelding Frosty Rocks somewhere and he does looks well placed in this race.
I would like to see them take a sit in behind the speed as this is his first go at beyond 1600m but he should have a fitness edge on a few of these.

Prometheus kick started his campaign with a nice win at this track where he has won twice from two attempts now.
He was far from disgraced behind Soxagon last start and he looks well placed in the last race of the day.
