2021 WGC Workday Championship Preview

The Concession Golf Club in Florida will make its PGA Tour debut this weekend as the host of the WGC Workday Championship.

Despite being moved from Chapultepec, the first WGC event of the year has drawn a typically competitive field with current Masters favourite Dustin Johnson headlining the top line of betting.

Defending champ Patrick Reed will be in attendance alongside Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, and last week’s Genesis Invitational winner, Max Homa.

The usual Aussie contingent of Adam Scott, Jason Day, Marc Leishman and Cameron Smith will also hit the links for a crack at the $10.5 million prize-fund.

With the first leg of the Florida Swing upon us, you can find our best bets across the entire weekend below.

2021 Genesis Invitational Best Bets

Xander Schauffele – $13.00

Sticking with Schauffele for the second week in a row after yet another T25 finish last week at Riviera.

That now makes it 16 consecutive finishes inside the Top 25 for the American, highlighted by a pair of back-to-back runner-ups at the Farmers and Phoenix Open less than a month ago.

Unlike most of this field, Schauffele has some experience at The Concession having played this course way back in 2015 at the NCAA Men’s Championship.

Just like Riviera, Concession calls for consistent ball-striking and putting, two areas Schauffele continues to excel at. The fact he also ranks second on Tour in adjusted scoring is a big plus.

2021 Genesis Invitational Best Value

Bryson Dechambeau – $19.00

The big man missed his first cut since August last week at the Genesis Invitational, but that’s certainly no knock on the world No. 10.

Since winning the US Open, Dechambeau has finished Top 10 twice with a T34 at Augusta thrown in between.

More importantly though, he’s undefeated at The Concession and also ranks just outside the Top 50 in ball striking.

Sungjae Im – $29.00

The Korean will no doubt be a popular bet throughout the Florida Swing.

Im famously claimed his first win on Tour at The Honda Classic last year at Palm Beach, a course that plays similarly to The Concession.

He’s been hit and miss with his irons recently, but the fact he hasn’t missed a cut since November makes him a must-have.

2021 Genesis Invitational Best Roughies

Will Zalatoris – $41.00

Fair to say Zalatoris might be one of the more underrated guys on Tour right now.

The 24-year-old is still searching for his first win, but he has been around the mark over this year finishing T7 at the Farmers and T17 at the Phoenix Open.

I know I said earlier that ball striking is paramount this weekend, but approach is also key at The Concession.

Zalatoris currently ranks third on Tour in Strokes Gained: Approach the Green, so he does appeal at odds here.

Justin Rose – $46.00

Rose rejoins the PGA Tour for the first time since November after spending some time across the pond in Europe.

The Englishman flashed a glimpse of his old self when T23 at the Masters last year, and he’s since gone on with it to finish T2 a fortnight ago at the Saudi Invitational.

Better yet, he’s finished top five on three separate occasions at the Honda Classic, a tournament also hosted in Florida.
