The Brownlow Bubble: AFL Round 3

Despite a chaotic week of footy, things are really beginning to settle in Brownlow market.

Sloppy games from the Tigers and Port has seen a couple of the favourites go without a vote this week, which in turn has seen $3.75 Coleman Medal favourite Taylor Walker take an outright lead atop our big board.

Further down, Cam Guthrie has firmed significantly following a monster game against the Hawks, while all eyes will shift to Nat Fyfe this week as the two-time Brownlow winner returns from a concussion.

With another huge round of footy kicking off on Thursday night, we’ve got you covered with all the moves, and most importantly, the votes, in another edition of The Brownlow Bubble!

Sam Walsh – $34.00 – $29.00

There hasn’t been a ton of movement in the market this week, but there has been a slight trim for young Carlton stud Sam Walsh.

It would take something very special for the promising midfielder to win the Charlie from here, but he does look likely to poll a few votes when it’s all said and done after racking up 37 disposals last week in the big win over Fremantle.

By our count, Walsh is right on par with Patrick Cripps – which is about what you’d expect considering he currently sits fourth in average disposals per-game.

Cam Guthrie – $81.00 – $34.00

There’s only one Cam Guthrie.

Things got pretty hairy against the Hawks on Easter Monday, but the star midfielder held his own with a career-high 43 disposals in Geelong’s nail-biting five-point win.

As you can see, Guthrie has firmed significantly to occupy the same territory as Adam Treloar and Scott Pendlebury in our Brownlow market.

He’s only averaged 14 disposals in 10 games against the Dees so far, but something tells us he’ll be putting up big numbers again on Sunday.

Max Gawn – $51.00

Speaking of the Dees, we couldn’t let the week go by without mentioning Max Gawn.

He’ll likely never win a Brownlow, but he did manage to pick up all three votes (at least by our count) after finishing with 24 disposals, two goals and 13 contested possessions last week in the win over GWS.

Gawn is one of those guys that tends to poll considerably well, as he did last year picking up 13 votes for the Dees.
