Peter Moody’s The Championships Day 1 Tips

The opening day of The Championships is here and we are set for four huge Group 1 races at Royal Randwick.

Peter Moody has been in excellent tipping form and his selections for the four Group 1 races, which includes one of his own runners, are now available.

Randwick - Race 6 2:30pm AEDT

No. 3 Lightsaber

This horse just seems to have thrived on racing and he couldn’t be in any better form.

He has had a four run prep for a second and three wins.

He has been convincing over the trip and I don’t think any of these others have had exposure to 1400 metres.

We have seen the Melbourne form stack up pretty well in New South Wales and his form intertwines with Anamoe a bit as well.

He sits up on the speed, makes his own luck and he just has to be good enough.

Randwick - Race 7 3:15pm AEDT

No. 16 Montefilia

Montefilia is the class horse in the Australian Derby field.

She found the line nicely in the Rosehill Guineas and I think that she will be much better suited on top of the ground.

Randwick - Race 8 3:55pm AEDT

No. 1 Bivouac

Bivouac is a horse that always peaks third-up and I think that he is ready to do that in the TJ Smith Stakes.

Hugh Bowman has had success on Bivouac in the past and he knows the horse very well.

Nature Strip and Eduardo will take each other on in the early stages and it might be the day for one of these swoopers.

I am looking for him to bounce back to his best form and head to Royal Ascot to represent Australia on the international stage.

Randwick - Race 9 4:35pm AEDT

No. 10 Cascadian

I am siding with Jamie Kah in a very open Doncaster Mile.

Cascadian is a horse that doesn’t win, but this just might be the perfect race for him.

He was super in the George Ryder Stakes and he drops six kilos from that race.

Kah will have to do no work on Cascadian from barrier three and I think she can bring this horse back to winning form.
