There are nine quality races on the card at Caulfield this Saturday afternoon.
Our full 2021 Anniversary Vase Day Preview can be read below.
Race 1 - 12:15pm
Wilde Racing Handicap (1100m)
Peter and Paul Snowden debuted this nice filly at Canterbury earlier this month and she could not have been much more impressive.
The daughter of I Am Invincible won the maiden by a length and proved she has a bright future in the process.
Mark Zahra will jump aboard for the first time and steer from barrier 12.

Race 2 - 12:50pm
Benchmark 78 Handicap (1600m)
This is a very hot little benchmark 78 race but there are two standouts in the race that are worth backing to make a small profit.
Pride Of Jenni has been very consistent through her six race starts to date with two wins and a further four placings.
She was excellent when resuming at Caulfield to narrowly miss at nice odds and will appreciate the step up to 1600m now.
Brookspire was last seen finishing sixth in the Kembla Grange Classic six weeks ago and has been freshened up for this race.
She looks really well placed at this level from barrier four.

Race 3 - 1:25pm
Benchmark 70 Handicap (1800m)
A full field of 16 will line up in the third race of the day and incredibly only one of them is a last start winner (No. 14 Dreamed).
That is who I’m with here.
The five year old mare has been racing really well in Adelaide and this race does not look any harder than her last start win at Morphettville.

Race 4 - 2:00pm
Benchmark 78 Handicap (1100m)
I have a pretty big opinion of the John O’Shea trained Intrepidacious, who I don’t think would be out of place in some better racing during the Brisbane winter carnival.
If the trainer and connections are even to consider that she would need to put away this field first up but her two trials leading into this assignment suggest she is ready to go fresh.
Young Laura Lafferty will give some weight relief and steers from barrier eight.

Race 5 - 2:35pm
The Di Beretta Handicap (1200m)
Melba Storm is a smart little filly who has won four times from 10 race starts so far including back to back wins at Ballarat and Morphettville this prep.
She was cramped for room a little at a crucial time behind Agreeable over 1400m at this track last start and will appreciate the step back in distance.
She should be ready to peak now and the each way odds are very enticing.

Race 6 - 3:15pm
Benchmark 84 (1200m)
Platini has been a very consistent gelding for the Ellerton and Zahra stable having been unplaced only three times in nine career starts.
He put together back to back wins at Yarra Valley and Flemington before running sixth at his next start.
He worked to the line really well late at Sandown last start to nab third and he has the ability to be competitive in this race with some luck.
The freshen up and drop in weight will suit.

Race 7 - 3:55pm
Manhari Metals Handicap (2000m)
Mahamedeis is a horse racing very well at the moment and although it took him a while to get to the leaders at Caulfield last week, he worked through the line really well.
He is a horse that can mix his form a bit but I can’t deny his win last week and if he produces anything near that, he will be very tough to beat.
3 Units Mahamedeis
Race 8 - 4:30pm
Listed Anniversary Vase (1400m)
Daniel Stackhouse got Riddle Me That in a terrible position rounding the turn at Caulfield last start and the horse never got clear running in the straight.
Given a better run, he would have won that race and would be even money in this race so I’m happy to have my money on him at the enhanced price.

Race 9 - 5:05pm
Benchmark 84 Handicap (1600m)
Pesto is a very lightly raced five year old import from the Hawkes stable who will only improve on his first up second at Caulfield last start.
He was subject to a big betting plunge on that day and had to come from last on the turn but made up a lot of ground late.
He looks a very talented individual to my eye and despite a couple things against him, he is still good bet in the last.
I’d recommend taking the tote price as you may get a better price when they jump.
