We’ve got a couple of feline firmers in this week’s edition of The Brownlow Bubble.
Cam Guthrie and Hugh McCluggage have both seen their prices trimmed significantly this week after flying under the radar for the last two months.
Further up, we’ve seen a changing of the guard with Marcus Bontempelli slightly favoured over Christian Petracca, while Dustin Martin has also made his presence felt following a huge night in the come-from-behind win over GWS last Saturday.
The Brownlow Bubble is your best bet to find out which players are a chance at the Charlie, so be sure to find out who’s on top of our leaderboard below.
The Brownlow Big Board
Our Round 9 Votes
St Kilda v Geelong Cats
Sydney Swans v Collingwood
Hawthorn v North Melbourne
Gold Coast Suns v Brisbane Lions
Richmond v GWS Giants
Port Adelaide v Western Bulldogs
Essendon v Fremantle
Melbourne v Carlton
West Coast Eagles v Adelaide Crows
Travis Boak –
$9.00 – $15.00
Big drift for Boak despite the fact he had a pretty strong game last week in the loss to the Dogs.
Port’s veteran midfielder finished with 30 touches and eight clearances, but it’s doubtful any of that was enough to poll him a single vote against the likes of Marcus Bontempelli, Jackson Macrae and the rest of the Bulldogs’ cohort.
Like we said last week, Boak will be in the fight right through to the death, but at this rate, it looks as though Ollie Wines is the pick of the Port players.
Hugh McCluggage –
$19.00 – $12.00
What a year this man is having.
The Lions would obviously prefer to have reigning Brownlow Medalist Lachie Neale on the field, but his absence has almost been a blessing in disguise as its allowed Hugh McCluggage to shine bright in the midfield.
The 23-year-old has kicked a goal in each of his last three games and has also played a big part in setting up his teammates to rank second overall in total goal assists.
McCluggage’s numbers in the disposal column have been equally as impressive this year, so it’s no surprise to find him marching towards the top of Brownlow betting with a big game against the Tigers ahead on Friday.
Cam Guthrie –
$34.00 – $19.00
Guthrie is easily the biggest dark horse in Brownlow betting this year.
He’s now strung together four consecutive games of 30 disposals or more, and like usual, he’s also been one of Geelong’s top tacklers.
Last week Guthrie cleaned up with 36 touches and a goal against the Saints, and he’s likely in for another big day at the office against the hapless Suns at the Cattery on Saturday.
This is one of the biggest firms we’ve seen this season, so if you’re looking to back a player at odds, this is your chance.
