2021 Spring Predictions

Facebooktwittermail

Spring is in the air and we are THAT keen.

With the first Group 1 of the season out of the way, we thought throwing some speculative headlines out there would be a bit of fun.

There’s some real value out there punters if you want to play in the Ladbrokes futures markets!

Here’s some headlines we’re predicting could happen over the next few months.

Nudge Dominates In Empire Rose Classic

The Empire Rose is one of our favourite races of the Spring.

A mile classic for the mares on Derby Day, what else could you want?

There have been some unreal wins in this race recently.

Who could forget when Melody Belle came from the clouds on a miserable & wet day in 2019?

What about J-Mac giving Shillelagh the ride of the Spring in 2018? Good times. Especially when you backed both of them…

With a bit of luck, we think we’ve found this year’s winner.

We’ve had our eye on Nudge right throughout the winter and couldn’t be more impressed.

Chris Waller has got her humming, and with some sunshine at Flemington come Derby Day and some luck with the barrier draw, the $26 currently on offer could be an absolute steal.

The Forgotten One Returns

The 2019 Melbourne Cup was a famous race for many reasons, the most notable being Vow & Declare taking out the great race for Australia.

But the race will also be remembered for the commotion that went on in the minor placings.

Il Paradiso was one of those affected when Frankie Dettori steered Master Of Reality off course in the last 50m of the race.

We haven’t seen Il Paradiso since, and he is once again under the management of Chris Waller.

Reports suggest he is back in a nice way, looking to target the Caulfield Cup & Melbourne Cup.

With international horses a genuine 50-50 chance of coming here for our greatest race, we could see a fairy tale unfold with Il Paradiso being right in the finish.

History Repeats: Slipper Duo Take Out the Everest Quinella

Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside and second placer Anamoe look to be great shout in the Everest, currently $8 and $11 respectively.

Whilst Stay Inside has interest from several slot holders, Godolphin Australia Managing Director said the plan for Anamoe is to target the Golden Rose into the Guineas.

However, if he comes back super sharp, he could be running in the Everest.

Could one of these two follow in the footsteps of Yes Yes Yes?

We think so.

Best Since Winx: Verry Ellegant Edges Zaaki in Cox Plate Showdown

Verry Ellegant is currently $7 for the Cox Plate, behind favourite Zaaki who is $4.50.

Her owners have said this race is her grand final this season.

$7 is a cracking price for this Waller-trained champion who will have more speed in her legs this prep.

Nothing more needs to be said.

Cup Double: Sydney Cup Winner Selino Takes Out the Big One

Could this imported stayer be Chris Waller’s first Melbourne Cup winner?

The talk out of his camp is positive.

At odds around the $26 mark we are more than happy to find out.

Hopefully some good stuff there for you drifters. Let us know your thoughts on our socials below!
