Mornington - Race 5 2:30pm AEDT

No. 1 One Man Band

One Man Band was a comfortable three-length winner over 1500m at Yarra Valley two back.

He returns on the 10-day backup following last week’s third at Moe over the mile where he finished off nicely from a wide gate in similar conditions.

The son of a Not Single Doubt has been in the money in seven of his eight starts this prep and he should be saving his best for late.

Hawkesbury - Race 5 2:35pm AEDT

No. 4 Merlinite

It’s been a long time since Merlinite last won a race, but she does look well-placed dropping back in grade.

The six-year-old by Pierro was last seen running sixth two Saturdays ago at Rosehill over 2400m, a performance she can improve on in a much easier contest.

Barrier 1 should see her get back and run on, while the fact she’s won previously over this trip is a big tick.

Mornington - Race 7 3:30pm AEDT

No. 2 Iknewshewasmine

Iknewshewasmine resumed a winner in easier grade at Moe first-up and looks capable of going on with it now.

The Magnus mare raced well at this level during the winter before capping off her prep with a forgivable performance on the synthetic at Ballarat.

She’s the money only once from five starts in her second run back and has proven effective on wet tracks in the past.

Hawkesbury - Race 8 4:25pm AEDT

No. 3 Favra

Favra tackled a midway at Randwick a few weeks ago and was far from disgraced beaten five lengths.

The son of Dissident was strong to the line the start prior, resuming for third after running into a bit of traffic down the straight.

He’ll only be fitter for two runs back and his handy record over this trip makes him good value at the current $11.00 quote.
