Ole has left the wheel, so who is going to step into the driver’s seat at Old Trafford?
There are no shortage of candidates to be the next manager of Manchester United and we’ve found the shortlist of candidates below.
Mauricio Pochettino
The short priced favourite, this will be Poch’s third Premier League stint if he was to take over.
There is just one small issue with that however, he is currently in charge of PSG which would mean there would need to be some form of release negotiated before he could hop back over the channel.
Otherwise they may have to wait until the offseason and persist with a caretaker manager for the remainder of the year.
Zinedine Zidane
French legend Zidane has only managed Real Madrid but what a spell he had in charge in La Liga!
Two La Liga titles plus a hat-trick of Champions League triumphs have made him a popular choice among many United fans.
Convincing him to move to the UK when the PSG job might open up could be an issue however.
Erik Ten Haag
He has transformed Ajax into one of the most exciting teams in Europe and would instantly provide some direction to a team that has sorely lacked it.
They just have to contact him first.
Brendan Rodgers
Of course he’s ready for the job, just ask him.
We all remember his title near miss at Liverpool and he has done a fantastic job returning Leicester into the top four race.
But the Foxes recent slip ups are clearly a cause for concern for some in the fan base.
Steve Bruce
Fresh off his departure from Newcastle, Bruce is looking for work.
If we’re being honest here, I’m happy to take on the gig too.
Unai Emery
He was sounded out for the Newcastle gig before Eddie Howe took over and has spent some time in the Premier League with Arsenal.
He can even take a look at United in their Champions League tie this week and see what he would be working with.
Not to mention as the Europa League specialist, he might even win the competition with United this year.
Roberto Mancini
He broke City’s title drought, it’s been nearly a decade for United, it just makes sense.
Any excuse to relive this moment.
Wayne Rooney
It might be a few years too early for Rooney to be considered a legitimate contender to take over as United boss, but he enjoyed a spectacular career with the club.
He scored over 250 goals for the club but none more memorable than this.
Cristiano Ronaldo
Let’s drop all pretence, he’s pretty much running the United dressing room already.
Not to mention he already has experience coaching a side, just look at his efforts with Portugal at Euro 2016.
Arsene Wenger
It may seem sacrilegious to hire Sir Alex Ferguson’s greatest rival, but Arsene Wenger still claims to want to manage.
Those two were key figures over the first two decades in the Premier League and their battles produced some of the best touchline footage.
Plus, we need someone to get him a job coaching a team so he can stop coming up with really bad ideas like this one.
Sam Allardyce
He can still move, but he hasn’t managed since leaving West Brom after getting them relegated last season.
Robbie Fowler
This would be a doubly amusing appointment, first of all the Liverpool fan base would be up in arms at their former striker coaching United.
Secondly, United would be wondering how far they had fallen to need a Liverpool legend to come in and save their skin.
Plus his time in coaching has left a lot to be desired.
Gary and/or Phil Neville
Surely one of them would love to have a go managing United?
Ange Postecoglou
Because why the hell not?
Alistair Clarkson
He’s looking for something to do.
Ted Lasso
We can only assume the Glazer ownership group thinks Lasso is an actual coach and will be trying to get in touch with his representation.
Bill Belichick
The Glazers took Tom Brady for their NFL team, perhaps they could take his former coach for their Premier League team.
Homer Simpson
Just to see him on the sideline doing this.
Dean Boxall
Remember him from earlier this year?
