No. 3 Uncorked
Uncorked has made the journey up from Sydney hoping to improve on a last-start runner-up at Randwick.
The filly by Pierro achieved a similar result on debut at Newcastle in November, and the form out of that reads well with the winner going on to find the money again.
She’s just lacked a little class in the finish so far, but with more experience and fitness on her side, there’s definite scope for improvement.
Gold Coast - Race 5 2:32pm AEDT
No. 3 Boomnova
Boomnova simply doesn’t know to run a bad race, and she looks well-placed in the lead-up to next week’s fillies and mares race.
The daughter of Spirit of Boom ha missed a place only twice from nine starts, and she couldn’t have been more impressive on Boxing Day at Doomben where she was run down not far out from the winner’s post over 1200m.
She’s even fitter now for two runs back, and with form on rain-affected tracks, she’ll take some catching once again.
Rosehill - Race 8 3:40pm AEDT
No. 2 So You Win
Chris Waller has dominated the acceptances in this year’s January Cup, and he looks to have a genuine chance at winning for a sixth time win So You Win.
The seven-year-old is a genuine wet tracker with five wins to his name on soft going, and is worth forgiving on his latest run when seventh in the Summer Cup on Boxing Day.
He lacked his usual finish that day after getting in the clear at the top of the straight but based on his win the start prior at Doomben, he’s capable of better.
Gold Coast - Race 7 3:52pm AEDT
No. 3 Love Tap
Love Tap appears to be working towards another win after overcoming plenty of problems three weeks ago in the December Handicap at Randwick.
The Freedman-trained gelding got away slowly and ran into some traffic down the straight, but still showed plenty in the finish to run fourth.
As a previous winner over 1800m, the step up looks ideal for him at this stage of his prep, and he’s got enough wet track form to suggest he can run well at a price.
