Pakenham - Race 3 5:45pm AEDT

No. 8 Martini Special

Martini Special is having her fourth run back and should find this slightly easier than her last start at Sandown where she ran on for fourth over further.

She was wide that day and will likely take a similar run in transit here from the awkward draw, but the step back to 1200m should suit after finishing only two lengths off the winner at Flemington over the same distance two runs back.

She’s plenty fit at this stage of her prep and looks ready to win.

No. 5 Sly Corner

Sly Corner rarely runs a bad race over 1400m with a win and four placings to his name.

The son of Savabeel has been super consistent of late finishing runner-up in his last two starts, and he’s also proven on rain-affected going.

He took up the lead at the turn last time out at Mornington where he wasn’t beaten by much, and if he can save his best for late again, he’ll be there in the finish.

Pakenham - Race 7 7:45pm AEDT

No. 4 Locko

Locko is a genuine type that has returned a place in four of his last five starts.

The seven-year-old son of Magnus was a clear third on Boxing Day over further at Geelong, but the form out of that race reads well with the second place-getter going on to find the money at Mornington last Sunday.

He’s drawn to box-seat behind the speed, has wet-track form, and almost always gives his best on his home track.

No. 2 Helavabel

Helavabel finished off strongly in his third-up assignment at Mornington and looks capable of handling his first look at the mile.

The son of Bel Esprit does have the wide draw to contend with, but it should suit his racing style since he likes to get back and run on.

Damian Lane jumps in the saddle for the first time, and providing it isn’t too wet, the pair should take beating.
