Daily Racing Tips – Australia Day Special

Caulfield - Race 3 2:30pm AEDT

No. 3 For Real Life

The Leon and Troy Corstens-trained For Real Life appears to be building towards another win.

This filly by Capitalist won her maiden at Ballarat first-up in November, and although she’s been up for a while, she’s held her form to return a place in two of her three starts since.

She was beaten by nothing more than a nose at the line by Danny’s St Darci last month at The Valley, and the form from that reads well with the previously mentioned horse going on to win again.

Warwick Farm - Race 4 3:25pm AEDT

No. 3 Star Cherie

Star Cherie can improve on her first-up run when fifth at Rosehill over the further.

She looked to be in the running for a place that day before being squeezed down the straight, but this does look a nice bounce-back opportunity for her dropping back to a trip she’s won over twice previously.

The Star Witness mare has overcome some of her previous issues and rates as one of the better chances in a fairly competitive race.

Warwick Farm - Race 7 5:20pm AEDT

No. 6 Navy Cross

Putting Navy Cross on top in this year’s Australia Day Cup.

The Waterhouse and Bott-trained five-year-old was a dominant winner third-up over the same trip on Magic Millions Day where he led all the way to score.

He’s won at this stage of his prep before, and there doesn’t appear to be a ton of early speed engaged.

Tim Clark rode a stack of winners last Saturday at Randwick, so he’s in good hands to go on with it.

Caulfield - Race 8 5:40pm AEDT

No. 9 Yonce

Yonce looks to be a mare going places for the Maher and Eustace team.

The daughter of Praiser attracted plenty of admirers on debut winning by 1.75L at Mornington, and she proved that was no fluke nearly a month later winning at Sandown over 1400m by another impressive margin.

How she handles Caulfield is the big query, but if John Allen can save her best for late, she should prove too strong to hold out.
