Geelong - Race 2 1:10pm AEDT

No. 5 Bonamassa

Bonamassa is six weeks between runs and has typically raced well fresh in the past.

The son of Helmet finished off well here two back over 1500m and was far from disgraced behind Son Of Emperor at Pakenham out to the mile.

He spotted his rivals a start that day and made good ground late, and I expect him to settle a little closer in transit this time around.

Geelong - Race 6 3:30pm AEDT

No. 7 Out Of The Cage

There’s a bit to like about Out Of The Cage here at a price.

The four-year-old shed his maiden tag in impressive style winning by over two lengths last time out, while he was also good the start prior finishing a clear runner-up to No Envy.

He’s deep into his prep, so fitness isn’t a concern, and he’s drawn to give this a real shake in the late stages if Jake Noonan can find cover.

Scone - Race 8 4:00pm AEDT

No. 5 Dr Drill

Happy to be with previous winner Dr Drill in this year’s Scone Cup.

The old-timer has made only the one start since the spring, finishing well down the straight in the Victoria Handicap at Caulfield.

He’s worth forgiving on that run though considering he was always going to want further, while the extra sting out of the track should suit him here. The wide draw is also a positive, and I think he’ll be swooping in late at a bit of value.

Geelong - Race 7 4:10pm AEDT

No. 4 Wedgetail

Wedgetail looks set to peak known his third run back.

The son of Foxwedge was seen doing his best work late over the track and distance a fortnight ago where he finished third following a lengthy spell.

He’s drawn to get back and charge the line late once again and this race really doesn’t look that much tougher.
