Daily Racing Tips – Saturday 14th May
Morphettville - Race 3 1:17pm AEDT
No. 1 Twin Stars
Twin Stars won quite well on debut at Murray Bridge and was beaten by promising horse See You In Heaven second-up in the Breeders Stakes.
The Zoustar colt has drawn to get a lovely run in behind the speed with Barend Vorster retaining the ride, and he should handle the wet after facing similar conditions last time out.
In a race lacking depth, he looks a good bet early on the program.
Flemington - Race 4 1:40pm AEDT
No. 4 Saigon
Saigon should take plenty improvement away from her first-up run at Sandown.
The Chris Waller-trained mare finished a nose second to Agreeable on a very heavy track, and she should appreciate getting back on firmer footing here out to her preferred distance.
The daughter of I Am Invincible has won at this stage of her prep before, and if Craig Newitt can offset the wide draw, she should be strong late.
Eagle Farm - Race 8 4:02pm AEDT
No. 10 Paulele
Paulele looks a nice value play in this year’s Doomben 10,000.
The Godolphin colt ran an enormous race for third behind Nature Strip in the T.J. Smith Stakes at Randwick two runs back, and was equally as impressive in the Arrowfield Sprint finishing a clear third to Mazu.
He looked in good order in a recent Hawkesbury trial and has typically done some of his best racing fresh. If James McDonald can save his best for late, he’ll be tough to hold out.
Morphettville - Race 8 4:22pm AEDT
No. 6 Detonator Jack
Detonator Jack can make it back-to-back South Australian Derby wins for the Maher and Eustace team.
The lightly-raced three-year-old has won all three of his starts so far by more than a length, the most recent coming at Sandown where he overcame a wide run to hit the front 200m out from home.
That performance suggests 2500m won’t be an issue, and he should appreciate a little sting out of the track with John Allen again in the saddle.
