Another superb card of racing awaits us at Rosehill this Saturday afternoon.

Our full 2022 Five Diamonds Day Preview can be found below.

Race 1 - 12:25pm AEDT

Benchmark 72 Handicap (1300m)

Either Oar has been up a long time but is racing consistently at this level of racing.

She hasn’t been beaten far in her last three races, all in Midway races, and was only narrowly denied last time out.

The 1300m shouldn’t be an issue and Tommy Berry has gained the ride.

Race 2 - 1:00pm AEDT

Highway Handicap (1400m)

Progressive horses on the rise are usually the ones I want to side with in these Highway races To The Nines fits that profile well.

The lightly raced five year old gelding has been placed in eight of 14 career race starts and finished second first up in an open class race at Canberra.

He’ll benefit from that run and the apprentice gives some weight relief with the claim.

Race 3 - 1:35pm AEDT

Benchmark 78 Handicap (2400m)

Australian Bloodstock is flying high after their win in the Melbourne Cup and while Our Candidate is no Gold Trip, he is a consistent stayer in open class racing.

He started this campaign with a placing in the Port Macquarie Cup and then took out the Cessnock Cup at his next start.

Fitter, out in distance and well weighted with the claim, he has genuine claims again.

Race 4 - 2:10pm AEDT

Benchmark 78 Handicap (1800m)

Willinga Rufio was beaten just over a length last time out in a very similar race to this one but he’ll benefit for that run.

The son of Dundeel will appreciate the step up in distance and he looks really well placed in this particular event.

Race 5 - 2:50pm AEDT

Benchmark 78 Handicap (1200m)

I have a bit of an opinion of Bend The Knee and although he failed in a couple of black type races during the QLD winter carnival, he has a fair bit of natural ability.

He has been given the ultimate gear change (gelded) since we last saw him which may get him focusing on the task at hand a but more and he’s had three nice trials leading into this first up assignment.

Race 6 - 3:30pm AEDT

Golden Gift (1100m)

I loved the way Disneck let down in his one and only trial proving he has quite a slick turn of foot.

The son of Trapeze Artist has drawn perfectly in barrier three and has found good support in early Golden Gift betting.

Race 7 - 4:10pm AEDT

Group 2 Hot Danish Stakes (1400m)

Sheeza Belta is a quality filly who raced keenly in the run when resuming in The Invitation and finished just over three lengths of the winner Promise Of Success.

She drops a kilo into this year’s Hot Danish Stakes, has drawn to get a nice run in transit and is a far superior horse on top of the ground.

Another that will benefit from the drying track is Jamaea who is a horse capable of producing a really high rating on her day.

She needs the pace on up front and she may get this with plenty of speed drawn inside, and she represents great each way value at the double figures.

Race 8 - 4:50pm AEDT

Five Diamonds (1800m)

Ayrton has never been one of mine but he does profile well for the inaugural The Five Diamonds.

He’s going to need to improve to turn the tables on the favourite Ellsberg who is flying but a good track might just be what he needs to close that gap.

All six of his wins have been on the firm surface and he was beaten a length by I Wish I Win first up and we know what that horse has achieved since.

Race 9 - 5:25pm AEDT

Benchmark 78 Handicap (1100m)

They only got to Winning Verse very late at this track and distance last start and she should be nearing peak fitness now.

Seems to benefit being on top of the ground and the apprentice will give some weight relief with the claim.

Race 10 - 5:50pm AEDT

Benchmark 78 Handicap (1400m)

Spangler has finished in the top two in three of four career race starts including a nice win at Newcastle to close out his last campaign showing a good turn of foot.

He’s had two trials leading into this first up assignment and we’ve never seen him on a good track, so if he gets that it may just suit him.
