No. 11 Duais
It’s tough to see Zaaki getting beat in this year’s Doomben Cup, but Duais looks a definite each-way chance at double-figures.
She was far from disgraced in the Turnbull Stakes and the Caulfield Cup last year, but her effort in the Melbourne Cup left plenty to be desired.
The fact Edward Cummings chose to avoid the Autumn Carnival suggests this is a clear target race from the stable though, while her record over 2000m speaks for itself. With some impressive trial form leading in and the track firming, she could run a big race at odds.

No. 4 Foxicon
This is the toughest race she’s contested, but Foxicon still rates the one to beat in the Proud Miss Stakes.
Peter Moody’s mare is in search of her hat trick coming off a pair of impressive wins at Sandown, charging the line in her latest to win by over two lengths.
The daughter of Foxwedge has hardly run a poor race in nine starts and maps to receive every chance with the in-form Billy Egan booked to ride.

No. 1 Scallopini
He’ll need some luck from the gate, but Scallopini looks great value in this year’s Ladbrokes BRC Sprint.
The son of Snitzel is somewhat of a cult hero up in Queensland, and he returns to Doomben in sparkling form having won his last two starts at Flemington over 1400m.
He’s been kept fresh for his win in the Group 3 Shaftesbury Avenue back in March and even as an eight-year-old, continues to showcase an electric turn of foot. With a good fresh record and Boris Thornton back on board, there’s a bit to like.

No. 9 Lofty Strike
The Goodwood looks the ideal Group 1 race for Lofty Strike.
We haven’t seen the Snitzel colt since he was beaten seven lengths in the TJ Smith Stakes at the start of April, but his form prior was sound, running a place in both the Oakleigh Plate and the Newmarket Handicap.
He’s been beaten by some good horses on each occasion, and maps to get back early from the wide gate and run on. He tends to do his best racing fresh, and if the track continues to firm, he’ll be hard to beat.
