The Sandown Hillside will be the venue for midweek metropolitan racing in Victoria this Wednesday.

The rail will be in the true position and the track is currently rated a good 4.

Our Ladbrokes preview can be found below.

Race 1 - 1:00pm AEST

LADBROKE IT! MAIDEN PLATE SW (1300 METRES)

Floozie was very good on debut at Geelong three weeks ago.

By Zoustar out of Blue Diamond winner Catchy, the regally bred filly had shown nice ability in jump outs prior to her first raceday outing and she performed accordingly.

She powered home to be beaten a long neck into third with a big gap back to fourth.

She will have taken improvement from the experience and the step to 1300m looks ideal. Blake Shinn retains the ride for the Price / Kent team.

1 Unit – FLOOZIE

Race 2 - 1:35pm AEST

LADBROKES BET TICKET PLATE MAIDEN SW 3YO (1500 METRES)

El Poder Del Sol was eye catching on debut back in May.

The son of Almanzor was held up in the early part of the straight, had to switch back across heels and produced a terrific turn of foot to flash home late and claim fourth.

He was sent for a break and returned late last month in a three year old Handicap around Moonee Valley and just wasn’t suited.

Michael Dee was onboard on that occasion and stated post race, that the gelding would be better suited on a bIgger track and he gets that here.

He strips fitter for that first up run and drops back to maiden grade.

1 Unit – EL PODER DEL SOL

Race 3 - 2:10pm AEST

AUSTIN WATERPROOFING HANDICAP BM64 (1000 METRES)

Hedged drops back in grade after contesting the Group 3 HDF McNeil last start.

Prepared by the Price / Kent team, the Capitalist gelding has performed well in all four of his starts to date and looked very promising when breaking his maiden in fine style two runs back.

He sat outside the leader in the McNeil and looked to have the race within his grasp 200m out but just peaked on his run.

Back to 1000m here will suit, Beau Mertens knows him well and sticks with him.

2 Units – HEDGED

Race 4 - 2:45pm AEST

BUCKLAND ROOFING HANDICAP BM64 (1600 METRES)

Poison Chalice is unbeaten in two runs this campaign.

There was plenty of merit in his first up run which saw him hit the line strongly to salute after being badly held up in the straight.

The talented son of Savabeel again unleashed a powerful finish last start to drive between runners and score over 1500m on the Lakeside.

The step up to the mile looks ideal and Declan Bates, who has been onboard for both victories will continue his association with the Paul Preusker trained gelding.

2 Units – POISON CHALICE

Race 5 - 3:20pm AEST

QUAYCLEAN HANDICAP BM64 (1300 METRES)

After two luckless runs back in July, Boldihno was given a short freshen up and he’s returned in good order.

His past two outings have seen him hit the line strongly, off wide runs, to just go down narrowly.

Prepared by the Maher / Eustace team, he drops back to BM64 grade here and Celine Gaudrey goes back in the saddle and will take 2kgs off.

1 Unit – BOLDIHNO

Race 6 - 3:55pm AEST

FIERCE IMPACT HANDICAP BM70 (1300 METRES)

Discerning has been racing well without winning.

The super consistent daughter of Street Boss is never far away and produced a solid effort here last start behind some highly talented mares.

She comes here off a six week freshen up and has performed well in all three starts over this course and distance.

Jamie Kah will do the steering for Peter and Paul Snowden and she has drawn to get the right run.

1 Unit – DISCERNING

Race 7 - 4:30pm AEST

TWO BAYS FARM HANDICAP BM64 (1000 METRES)

Luna Cat caught the eye last start when storming home from the tail.

Off a slow start, the speedy mare found herself a long way back and was never in contention but showed a sharp turn of foot to finish fifth.

The start prior she appeared disappointing on face value but did pull up with a slow recovery so I’m happy to put a line through that performance.

She’s been placed in all three starts here and from the inside draw she can settle closer in the run and Celine Gaudrey will take 2kgs off.

1 Unit E/W – LUNA CAT

Race 8 - 5:05pm AEST

BIG EVENT PICNIC TABLES HANDICAP BM70 (1800 METRES)

Rick’s Cafe returned to the winner’s stall last start after a determined win over the mile.

A noted second up performer, the lightly raced mare relished the step up in trip as well as the sharp drop in grade.

She’s unbeaten in two starts here on the Hillside and has won at her only outing over 1800m.

Carleen Hefel has built a terrific association with the Americain mare, having partnered her to three wins from just six rides, she remains in the saddle and will take 1.5kgs off.

From barrier three she’ll enjoy a soft run and will be doing her best work through the line.
