Bendigo - Race 2 12:00pm AEDT

No. 3 Persian Spirit

Persian Spirit really caught the eye when winning well at Swan Hill in just his second start.

Symon Wilde’s gelding won in arrogant fashion with a well-timed run down the outside, crossing the line with seemingly plenty left to give.

This is slightly tougher, but he draws to do no work in transit from the soft gate with Blake Shinn engaged.

No. 7 Harold The Great

Harold The Great looks set to peak in his third run back.

Trained by Chris Waller, the lightly-raced four-year-old has found the money in his last two starts goes at Bendigo and Kyneton, beaten only 1.6 lengths last time out after being held up badly.

He’s drawn a much softer gate on this occasion under Blake Shinn, while his maiden win at Geelong last time in work suggests the rise to 2400m will be suitable.

No. 3 Big Brew

Big Brew’s wins are spaced, but there’s been a lot to like about his latest efforts at Caulfield.

The old boy by Magnus was within half of a length of Shock ‘Em Ova two runs back, form that has been franked with that same horse going on to win his next start.

He gave good chase back in trip a couple of weeks ago, and the rise to 1600m again looks more than ideal. With Jordan Childs retaining the ride, the pair map to get right back and save something for late.

No. 8 Suizuro

Suizuro needs a little luck to go his way from the wide gate, but the Bendigo Cup does look a nice race with fitness on his side.

The son of Real Impact plugged away to claim the Moe Cup by two lengths a fortnight ago, enjoying a nice run in behind the speed before Craig Newitt pushed the button.

The four-year-old was third over 2400m in the Australian Derby earlier in the autumn, and with conditions to suit, he should be running another big race at good odds.
