Doomben will host Brisbane’s metropolitan midweek program on Thursday, February 1st, and seven races will be contested.

The rain has continued to fall on the Doomben track this week and at publish, we’re looking at a Heavy 10, while the rail will be set out a whopping 11 metres around the course.

Girls Day Out On Sale Now QTIS 3YO BM68 Handicap (1200m)

Last-start winner Femme Fatale looks well placed to make it two in a row this week.

The Better Than Ready filly has won two of her four runs back from a break, but was particularly eye-catching in the BM65 contest out at Ipswich at her latest.

She’s hard fit and will take plenty of beating again.

Arisphere turned in a vastly improved performance here second-up and is ready to break her maiden.

The Exosphere mare failed to beat a runner home on debut early last month, was freshened and returned to only just miss a fortnight ago.

With further improvement, this is a perfect opportunity to begin her rise through the grades.

Irish Sally has returned to the races in sharp form and looks a competitive chance in an open race at Doomben.

The Vancoiver mare was only denied by one in each of her first two runs back at Toowoomba, but powered through to record a deserved win in Class 2 company at Warwick last time.

She looks to be in peak order this week and rates as a genuine each way chance in a race of this quality.

Cascade Class 4 Handicap (1200m)

Plundering will take a power of beating at Doomben on Wednesday.

Plundering hit the line, though well beaten by With Your Blessing in BM78 company three runs back and has since filled the minors in consecutive races at the same grade at Randwick.

This is a substantial drop in class and he is my best bet on the program.

Bliss Miss was good through the line at the Sunshine Coast when resuming and rates as a key winning chance second-up.

Bliss Miss didn’t show a lot on debut here in August and was immediately put away, but returned a nice trial performance before showing plenty of improvement at her first run back.

She strips fitter and does look up to winning something like this.

Snow Boum is untested in the wet but looks well placed to win at Doomben this week regardless.

The Alpine Eagle mare raced competitively to finish on the placegetters’ heels at each of her first three runs back this time before only just missing in a similar race here last time out.

Ryan Maloney is a big tick, and this is her chance to strike.

Former Victorian Kooled can keep alive his unbeaten record in Queensland this week.

Kooled has picked off plenty of nice races throughout his career, finding form around some genuine metro-grade company during his time for Ben Brisbourne.

Having timed his run ideally to strike in Class 5 company at Ipswich on debut for Lauren Abbott, he’s open to improvement and is proven on a rain-affected track.
