Boston Celtics vs Dallas Mavericks
10:40am, TD Garden

A second cross-conference meeting between the Celtics and Mavs is set for the Garden on Saturday, and it could be worth monitoring the injury report with Luka Doncic still battling through an ankle injury.

The Celtics won by nine when they visited Dallas six weeks ago, a result that was more of a blowout than the scoreboard suggests with both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown dropping 30+ points.

The Mavs have been a different team since then, recently winning important games against the likes of the Knicks, OKC, and Phoenix, before blowing out the Raptors by 11 points on Thursday.

That said, Boston is a different beast at home, and I do think the Celtics are rightful favourites given the schedule and their 13-6 record against opponents from the West.

Joe Mazzulla’s side has a two-day break to prepare for this game, while the Mavs are on the back foot playing their third game on the road.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs Sacramento Kings
11:10am, Target Center

Again, the injury report is worth monitoring here with both Anthony Edwards and De’Aaron Fox listed as day-to-day as I write.

Each sides have a break after this one, so I’m betting both players suit up in what is shaping to be a very important game in terms of the standings.

For Minnesota, OKC’s purple patch has left them sitting only half a game clear on top of the standings, while the Kings are looking to snap a two-game skid that has them slipping further down the play-in picture.

Looking back, these two sides have already played twice this year, and I think there’s plenty to take away from their most recent meeting in December.

The Kings are often criticised for their lack of size, and that was heavily exploited by Rudy Gobert’s 17 rebounds and a monster 34 point game from Anthony Edwards.

The Wolves have a tough game ahead on Monday against the Clippers, but with the Kings really struggling defensively since the All-Star break, I think this turns out to be a comfortable Minnesota win.
