Flemington - Race 5 2:30pm AEDT

No. 5 Moesha

Moesha kept her best work for late in her first run back from a break, and she’ll take plenty of improvement into her second campaign start at Flemington.

The Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman-trained mare did attracted some interest in betting ahead of the Kevin Hayes Stakes first-up this campaign and after settling off the pace, she really did get going late.

With natural improvement and dropping in class, she looks tough to beat.

No. 1 Redstone Well

Redstone Well takes winning form into Race 5 at Randwick today and looks well placed to make it two in a row.

Each of Redstone Well’s three runs in Australia have resulted in big improvement, and he was rewarded with an eye-catching victory over a mile here at his latest appearance.

James McDonald can give him every chance from an inside barrier and another rise in trip looks suitable at this point of his preparation.

No. 1 Riff Rocket

He couldn’t have been more impressive in the CS Hayes Stakes first-up from a spell and I think that Riff Rocket is going to take a power of beating today in the Australian Guineas.

Riff Rocket enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence last spring, culminating in an impressive Derby win, but I thought that his fresh effort over the 1400m suggested that he has only improved.

He strips fitter and getting out to a mile here at Flemington will suit.

No. 4 Learning To Fly

Learning To Fly couldn’t have done a lot more without winning the Light Fingers Stakes in her first run back from a break, and the Surround Stakes looks an absolutely perfect Group 1 target for her.

She stamped herself as one to watch during her two-year-old season by winning three feature races in succession, and while she was unlucky to lose her rider in the running of the Golden Slipper, her first-up performance this time suggested that a major victory isn’t far away.
