Top line action continues this week when a field of ten two-year-olds contest the Group 1 Inglis Sires’.

Golden Slipper winner Lady Of Camelot has accepted into the Inglis Sires’ field, keeping alive her hopes of becoming the first juvenile since Pierro to win the 2YO Triple Crown.

Toss in stable mate and Magic Millions winner Storm Boy, Coleman, Traffic Warden and Manaal, and we are set for a thrilling contest at Royal Randwick on Day 1 of The Championships.

Yet to do the form? Don’t worry – we’ve done all the heavy lifting below in our complete 2024 Inglis Sires’ Preview.

2024 Inglis Sire’s Betting Strategy

  • 3 Units Storm Boy (Win)
  • 1 Unit Manaal (Win)

1 – Storm Boy (8)

Storm Boy suffered the first defeat of his career in the Golden Slipper a fortnight ago, but he lost few admirers, and getting out to 1400m looks ideal at this point of his campaign.

Having won each of his first three career starts by a combined 7 lengths, including the Magic Millions Classic, the Justify colt returned from a short break to win the Skyline Stakes at Group 2 level before poking through on the inside to finish third in the Slipper.

Fitter third-up this week, he’ll take plenty of beating again and is deserving of his position on the top line of Inglis Sires’ betting.

2 – Coleman (9)

Coleman looked the winner in the Golden Slipper before only just being pipped late by Lady Of Camelot, Colemon does look the value in 2024 Inglis Sires’ betting ($9 at publish).

Coleman stamped himself as one to watch by winning each of his first two career starts, but nothing went right in the Blue Diamond Stakes and he finished well down the order.

Having arrived in Sydney to finish third in the Pago Pago Stakes, he delivered a gem of a ride by Kerrin McEvoy at his latest and really was unlucky not to get there. Great chance to run into the first three again.

3 – Traffic Warden (8)

Traffic Warden turned in an excellent effort to finish fourth in the Golden Slipper and will take his place in the Inglis Sires’ field.

The Street Boss colt has won two of his six career starts to date, placing a further two times, and his latest effort was a noticeable improvement off a smart win in the VRC Sires’ at Flemington.

Getting back to the 1400m this week suits and Jamie Kah can give him every chance from barrier 3.

4 – Prost (5)

Prost finished down the order in the Golden Slipper last time out, hitting the line more than five lengths adrift of the winner.

Prior to that, he won the Canonbury Stakes at Rosehill before running into Storm Boy in the Todman.

He steps out this week in peak order but might find a few of them a little too good again.

5 – Anode (1)

Anode is yet to miss placing in four career starts.

The I Am Invincible colt stamped himself as one to watch with a dominant win here on debut back in December and has placed in each of three autumn starts so far, including consecutive second placings in the Pago Pago and last weekend’s Baillieu.

He’s hard fit, I like that he’s on the quick back up and the booking of Tim Clark does add further confidence to a competitive performance.

6 – Fearless (4)

Fearless takes his place in the 2024 Inglis Sires’ field after breaking his maiden a Newcastle.

He finished a half-length second in the Canonbury Stakes when resuming this time before a credible effort in the Blue Diamond, and he would need to improve noticeably to be trading blows in the finish with a couple of these rivals.

7 – Vianarra (2)

Victorian Vianarra was last seen finishing sixth, beaten more than five lengths by Traffic Warden in the VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes.

He has gone up the rank outsider in Inglis Sires’ betting, and it does look to be a genuine throw at the stumps by trainers Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young.

8 – Duvana (7)

Duvana is a three-start maiden looking to break through in Group 1 company.

It’s impossible to have any real confidence in his chances alongside the likes of Storm Boy and Lady Of Camelot.

9 – Lady Of Camelot (6)

Golden Slipper winner Lady Of Camelot understandably lines up again this week in the Inglis Sires’ and will look to emulate the efforts of filly Fireburn a couple of years ago.

Having won the Widden Stakes and finished second in the Blue Diamond first and second-up this time, the Written Tycoon filly was solid in betting a fortnight ago and jockey Blake Shinn delivered a perfectly timed ride to get up in the shadows of the post.

She’s hard fit, getting out to 1400m looks ideal and so long as she handles a likely rain-affected track, she’ll be right in the thick of it again.

10 – Manaal (10)

Manaal produced an eye-catching performance in the Golden Slipper, running on impressively to finish fifth.

Her form prior to that race was strong, including a victory in the Group 2 Sweet Embrace, and her latest was the performance of a filly that looked to be crying out for further.

She rates as a genuine chance of fighting into the Inglis Sires’ trifecta.
