No. 7 Olive Baguette

Olive Baguette has just had the two starts to date and looks to have plenty of upside.

He caught the eye on debut when charging late from the tail over the 1000m at Moonee Valley.

Given a break, the son of Spieth returned over this track and trip a fortnight ago and after settling up on speed, he hit the front at the top of the straight only to be run down late.

He’s still learning and will have taken plenty of benefit from the run and the inside draw will see him afforded every chance under Daniel Stackhouse.

No. 4 Makdane

Makdane has been placed in all four raceday appearances and looks well placed to break through.

The son of Impending was sent for a break after his debut outing and has just found one better in each run this preparation.

Having his first try over the mile last start, he was strong through the line and put up a 4.5 length margin back to third.

He’s doing everything right, the form around him looks solid and with the right run, he should prove hard to beat.

No. 1 Il Cubo

Not a lot went right for Il Cubo when resuming at Caulfield but he was doing his best work late after settling at the tail of the field in the 1100m event.

Only lightly raced, the three year old has shown good natural talent and looks an improving type.

He drops back sharply in grade from that first up run and the slight rise out to 1200m looks ideal.

Barrier four will see him settle him closer in the run and whilst he does rise sharply in the weights, I don’t think that will hinder him.

Pakenham - Race 8 8:45pm AEST

No. Jabbawockeez

Jabbawockeez produced a brilliant turn of foot last start, storming down the outside to defy the pattern and salute at Warrnambool.

The New Zealand bred gelding was only run down in the shadows of the post when resuming the start prior and he comes here in top order.

He excels in wet ground and gets conditions to suit.

Jaylah Kennedy goes onboard for team Hayes and will take 2kgs off with the claim.
