Nine races will be run and won at Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday, June 1st.
The weather has been generally fine around Melbourne this week and we’re faced with a track rated in the Good (4) range, while the rail will be set out nine metres around the entire course.
Check out my thoughts on each race and Caulfield tips below.
Race 1 - 11:50am
Dexion Victoria Handicap (1100m)
Blue Renegade looks to have a future and rates as a key winning chance again on Saturday.
The Blue Point colt turned in a nice effort on debut, running into a smart Rich Dottie, but he took up the running and kicked away late at Sandown last time out.
Fitter third-up, he looks ready for something like this.

Race 2 - 12:25pm
Next Payments Handicap (1600m)
Knucklebones is third-up and worth another chance this week, in my opinion.
The Savabeel filly returned to action with a tight win over 1300m at Cranbourne back in April, but she was luckless and didn’t quicken late here at Caulfield last time.
Fitter third-up and staying at the mile, she does look up to something of this quality.

Race 3 - 1pm
Vale Rod McQueen (1400m)
Episodic has recorded three wins from as many runs back from a break and looms as the one to beat again in this contest.
The classy South Australian returned to action with a dominant effort in maiden company at Oakbank and has since franked that effort with a pair of wins at Morphettville.
She’s hard fit and ready to tackle something of this quality, while getting out to 1400m at this point also looks ideal.

Race 4 - 1:35pm
Beretta’s Langwarrin Hotel Handicap (1100m)
Jewellery has been knocking on the door since resuming and gets another great chance at Caulfield.
The Godolphin galloper hit the line to only just miss behind Spring Lee at Canterbury first-up last month before filling the minors in BM72 company during the Scone carnival.
Fitter third-up and back to the 1100m, I think this looks an ideal Saturday metro target for her.

Race 5 - 2:10pm
GMH Fire & Safety Australia Handicap (1200m)
Another wide-open race with a case to be made for a few of them, and I thought that Beour Bay has claims at a price.
The Shane Nichols-trained was an eye-catching winner in BM78 company back in April, while she wasn’t disgraced in a couple of tougher feature races in the wake.
She’s hard fit and we can have an each way play at the quote ($10 at publish).

Race 6 - 2:45pm
Manhari Metals Handicap (1100m)
South Australian raider Keep Reading steps out in a very winnable race at Caulfield.
The Headwater gelding found form around some talented gallopers last time in, ending his prep second behind subsequent Group 1 winner Queman.
Having hit the line for an easy win down at Morphettville first-up this campaign, he’s open to improvement and can continue his rise through the grades.

Race 7 - 3:20pm
Ern Jensen Funerals Mile (1600m)
St Lawrence filled the minors in similar company when resuming from a break and can go on with it at Caulfield on Saturday.
The Ciaron Maher-trained gelding has been a good and consistent performer throughout twelve career starts, and I thought he finished off well behind a couple of talented and fit rivals when fresh.
With improvement and out to the mile, he’s my best bet on the program.

Race 8 - 4pm
Thoroughbred Club Of Australia Handicap (1200m)
Heuristic is yet to show his best in two runs back from a break and he’s set to go around at a big price this week.
The Godolphin gelding was great during his two-year-old prep, ending his year with a deserved win in Group 3 company, and while he is yet to finish in the minors this time in, he hasn’t been far away from the winner.
Fitter third-up this week, he’s another whom we can have something on each way.

Race 9 - 4:35pm
Logical Staffing Solutions Handicap (2000m)
Mirzann has only just missed in each of two runs since arriving in Australia and is another that can return to winning form at Caulfield this week.
The Chris Waller-trained gelding is yet to finish worse than second in seven career starts, winning two of five over in France prior to his transfer.
The 2000m looks ideal and with even luck, this really does look perfect for him.
