Nine races will be run and won on the Morphettville Parks track this Saturday.
The rail will be back in the true position and the track is currently rated a good 4.
We’ve had a close look at all nine events on the program and our thoughts can be found below.
Race 1 - 12:52am AEST
QUAYCLEAN HANDICAP BM68 (1550 METRES)
Big Brute lines up off a seven week freshen up and there was a lot to like about his most recent run.
The son of Brutal made the trip to Flemington in search of a dry track and off a slow start he finished off strongly to run into second in the 1400m event.
Having just had the four race starts, the gelding won well on debut at Balaclava before two unplaced runs on very heavy tracks.
He gets conditions to suit and the way he found the line last time, suggests the rise to 1550m will suit.
The only slight query is the gap between runs but he’s drawn to get all the favours and gets in nicely with the 3kg claim for Felicity Atkinson.
1 unit – BIG BRUTE
Race 2 - 1:27pm AEST
THMOAS FARMS MAIDEN PLATE SW (1000 METRES)
Oochie Magucchee makes her raceday debut.
The four old has just had the one public barrier trial and there was a lot to like about her performance.
In the 1000m Murray Bridge heat, the Sir Prancelot mare showed good early speed to lead narrowly and when shaken up in the straight, she kept finding and was eased down to win conformably with her ears pricked.
The 1000m kick looks ideal and with luck from the draw, she’s sure to make her presence felt.
1 unit – OOCHIE MAGUCCHEE
Race 3 - 2:02pm AEST
CLAYMORE WINES HANDICAP BM64 (2250 METRES)
Bolshoi Princess hasn’t been far away in all four starts this campaign and looks ready to peak.
Prepared at Kyneton by Liam Howley, the daughter of Russian Revolution picked up strongly over the final part when stepping out to 1700m two runs back and last time, after taking up the lead from the wide gate, was just run down late over 2020m.
The form around her is solid, she’s fit and from a low draw should be able to settle just in behind them and be strong late.
2 units – BOLSHOI PRINCESS
Race 4 - 2:37pm AEST
AIG SECURITY HANDICAP 1MW (1950 METRES)
Lavish Thinker strips fitter for the two runs back and looks nicely placed here up in trip.
He was just getting warmed up late when resuming over 1400m on the Lakeside and charged late last time over 1500m on the Hillside to finish fifth, only half a length from the winner.
A son of So You Think, he did perform well over longer trips in his three year old campaign and boasts solid form around him.
From the inside draw he’s set to receive a cosy run in transit under Lachlan Neindorf, who takes the mount for Phillip Stokes.
1 unit – LAVISH THINKER
Race 5 - 3:12pm AEST
JOCKEY WATCH HANDICAP CLASS 2 (1250 METRES)
The Golden Fist proved too strong last start, recording a deserved maiden win at just his third raceday appearance.
The Rubick gelding made a good impression on debut, finishing the runner up before spending almost twelve months on the sidelines.
Solid when resuming over 1050m here last month but he just looked in need of the run.
He strips fitter again and the form from that latest run has been franked with both placegetters having since saluted.
He does have the wide draw to overcome but looks to have plenty of upside and I think he’ll prove too classy.
1 unit – THE GOLDEN FIST
Race 6 - 3:47pm AEST
NOBODY DOES IT BETTER HANDICAP BM76 (1250 METRES)
Aviatress comes off a terrific effort in the Group 3 Cockram Stakes at Caulfield where she finished a close fourth.
The locally trained mare had been placed in both runs back this campaign before making the trip to Melbourne and has shown that she’s certainly a class performer.
Back in grade, she’ll find this easier and from barrier two, can settle within striking distance.
Jake Toeroek knows her well and goes back aboard for Richard and Chantelle Jolly.
3 units – AVIATRESS
Race 7 - 4:27pm AEST
SPORTSBET HANDICAP BM78 (1400 METRES)
Hughes bounced back to his best last start, recording a determined win over 1400m on the Sandown Lakeside.
The son of Russian Revolution had been racing well, placing in his prior starts but just looked to be anchored under the big weights.
Whilst he did rise in grade last time, he certainly appreciated the 5kg drop.
A winner of three from ten and placed on a further four occasions, he’s never far away and is very honest.
He’s drawn to get the right run and will only carry an extra half kilogram.
Ben Price will do the steering for the Price / Kent team.
1 unit – HUGHES
Race 8 - 5:07pm AEST
GRAND SYNDICATES HANDICAP BM64 (1550 METRES)
The Marg Factor has been racing well and will appreciate the drop back in grade.
The runner up at her first two runs back from a break, she then just raced a touch keen through the early part around the Valley and it tolled late.
She presents here at peak fitness and will find this easier.
Tianni Chapman partnered her in her first two outings this prep, she goes back aboard for Peter Gelagotis and her 3kg claim will see the mare in beautifully with just 54.5kgs on her back.
1 unit – THE MARG FACTOR
Race 9 - 5:45pm AEST
ADELAIDE GALVANISING INDUSTRIES HANDICAP 0-64 (1000 METRES)
Dyer resumes.
The son of Zousain has just had the two race starts and showed good natural talent when saluting on debut over 1000m.
Given a short break following that run he then stepped out over 1200m at Murray Bridge but just faded late after enduring a wide run throughout.
Back to 1000m looks ideal and the blinkers go on for the first time.
The low draw will see him afforded every chance under Todd Pannell who will do the steering for Michael Hickmott.
1 unit E/W – DYER
