No. 6 Bay Of Zea
Bay Of Zea is a much better chance than her most recent effort over the track and distance suggests. The daughter of Shalaa reared at the start and was always wide the trip, finishing down the order beaten over six lengths. Her previous efforts saw her finish in behind smart horses like Isthmus and Niance, while she’s also fitter now with two runs under her belt. If she can find cover out wide, a nice bounce back effort should be on the cards.

No. 7 Savvyrocker
Savvyrocker is worth forgiving on her first-up run at Caulfield earlier in the month. Peter Moody’s filly was the last one home after getting fractious in the barriers pre-race, failing to show her usual late speed that was on display previously at Sandown earlier in July. Drawn a better gate this time, she’s worth sticking with at a decent price.

No. 3 Sure
Sure has gone up short odds after having his unbeaten streak snapped on return over the same track and distance first-up. The son of So You Think settled towards the tail and spotted the lead several lengths into the turn, before working home strongly down the outside for third. He was fresh from a lengthy spell that day, so natural improvement can be expected, provided he doesn’t want further at this stage of his prep.

No. 9 Sea King
Sea King is on debut for Harry Eustace in the Bendigo Cup. The international raider has been well fancied after finishing midfield in the Ebor Handicap last start at York, form that produced last week’s Geelong Cup winner, Onesmoothoperator. The son of Sea The Stars is a multiple winner over 2400m and has drawn to receive every chance from the low gate with Declan Bates taking the ride looking for the win to make the 2024 Melbourne Cup field.
