No. 7 Ortigian Girl

Ortigian Girl was very good on debut over 1000m at Cranbourne.

The Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained filly let down powerfully to finish just under a length second.

Given how strong through the line she was, she’ll appreciate the rise to 1200m.

There doesn’t look to be a great deal of speed in the race which should see Daniel Moor cross from the outside barrier and find a forward position.

No. 10 Mary Eliza

Mary Eliza jumped well but found herself three deep when debuting over 1300m at Seymour.

Despite that, the Moody & Coleman-trained filly worked to the line well for a 2.2 length third.

The rise to 1500m should suit with increased fitness second-up.

She maps to get a great run on speed for Zac Spain.

No. 1 Nursery Chime

Nursery Chime returned in good order last start over 1400m at Cranbourne where she gave a great sight in front but was run down late to finish a neck third.

The six-year-old mare will strip fitter second-up and did win over this course and distance when having her second run last preparation.

She rarely runs a bad race having won or placed in 16 of her 22 races.

Lachlan Bates, who claims 2kg, can give her the run of the race from the inside barrier.

No. 9 Pick ‘N’ Mix

Pick ‘N’ Mix looked a nice type when winning a trial and she took that impressive form to her debut race at Cranbourne.

The Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained filly led the 1200m contest before booting clear in the straight to easily win by 1.8 lengths with third over four lengths away.

She’ll have taken great benefit from the experience and will strip fitter second-up.

Harry Coffey can dictate the speed from the inside gate which will make her hard to beat.
