Another eight-race card has been set at Ladbrokes Geelong on Wednesday afternoon.

The weather is fine, and the track is rated a Good 4 with the rail out 3m across the circuit.

Race 1 - 3:05pm AEDT

Entrusting really impressed first-up at Seymour, taken right back off the speed before angling into the clear out wide for a narrow win of his maiden.

The colt by The Autumn Sun looked have a bit left to give through the line and receives an immediate upgrade in the saddle for his third race start with Blake Shinn taking over.

Out to 1500m shouldn’t prove much of a problem from the soft gate, particularly against a small field.

Race 2 - 3:40pm AEDT

He’s A Tiger is second-up for Ken and Kasey Keys following an even fresh effort at Yarra Glen to start the year.

The son of Polanski reared at the start and settled close to last in the run, before being held up badly at the top of the straight after coming into contact with another runner when attempting to shift out.

Still lightly-raced for a four-year-old, he’s open to improvement second-up, while it helps knowing he placed over much further at Bendigo to wrap up his maiden prep last year.

Race 3 - 4:15pm AEDT

Tangoette has race fitness on her side as she prepares to step out third-up for Matt Laurie.

The daughter of Reward For Effort just missed out on a place last start over 1200m at Mornington where she rolled forward before being run down.

A similar story unfolded on debut at Yarra Glen and she is likely to adopt similar tactics stepping back slightly in trip on this occasion.

Race 4 - 4:50pm AEDT

Top Maverick is a three-year-old with real potential for trainer Clayton Douglas.

A son to Merchant Navy, he caught the eye when working home to miss out narrowly on a win on debut at Mornington late last year after stalking the pace early in the run.

He was seen closing the gap nicely over his final few strides and is likely to take beating again with the blinkers applied off a solid three-week break.

1 Unit Top Maverick (7)

Race 5 - 5:25pm AEDT

Think Hard is back from a lengthy spell after debuting for fourth over the track and distance last August.

Phillip Stokes’ filly finished off fairly along the rail that day beaten just over three lengths, but she really caught the eye winning a recent jump out at Pakenham on New Year’s Eve leading into her prep.

Drawn an inside gate, she’s likely to settle midfield again under Daniel Stackhouse and rates a main contender, providing she handles 1200m fresh.

Race 6 - 6:00pm AEDT

Regal Might looks a nice bet to go on with the job for Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr.

The Magnus four-year-old returned in great order to win his second race at Mornington last year, overcoming a slow start to knuckle down for a strong win through the line.

It looked as though he was only hitting top gear approaching the 50m mark, while a runner-up effort at Caulfield in behind Miss Roumbini last year also stands out on her resume.

Race 7 - 6:30pm AEDT

Mt Moriac Hotel BM64 Handicap (1112 METRES)

Abaddon should be racing with confidence after winning well on return at Stawell first-up.

Linda Meech’s six-year-old kept finding from a wide position to win by three-quarters of a length, an effort suggesting there might be more left in the tank as he sticks to a similar distance up in grade.

The son of Fighting Sun has a handy record second-up and is drawn to do less work this time from an inside gate.

1 Unit Abaddon (1)

Race 8 - 7:00pm AEDT

Prestige Jayco BM64 Handicap (2418 METRES)

Jenni The Tank put paid to a thin field for her maiden win at Bendigo a month ago over a similar trip.

Ciaron Maher’s mare improved on two place efforts in easier races to go clear and win by the barest of margins.

She’s drawn awkwardly out wide off a break between runs, but considering she likes to roll forward and dictate up on the speed, she should find this another winnable contest with the class of Blake Shinn taking over.
