See below for our expert Saturday racing tips for February 22nd, including Caulfield best bets and Rosehill tips this weekend!
Rosehill - Race 5 2:50pm AEDT
No. 4 Firestorm
Kicking off our Saturday Racing tips we are in Sydney at Rosehill and the Millie Fox Stakes looks an ideal autumn launchpad for the talented Firestorm.
We haven’t seen Firestorm at the races since November, but she absolutely flies fresh and is a three-time winner from four previous first up attempts.
Jason Collett can put her in a nice position from the ideal barrier 5 and with even luck in running, I can’t find a reason why she won’t be in the finish.
Rosehill - Race 6 3:25pm AEDT
No. 3 Wodeton
We stay in Sydney for Race 6 for a key Saturday racing tip! Wodeton could be anything, and he’s a clear standout top pick in the Silver Slipper, in my opinion.
Having shown promise at the trials prior to debuting, Wodeton put the writing on the wall with an incredible effort at this track and trip last month, greeting the judge nearly four lengths ahead of his rivals.
He’s come up with the outside barrier this week and James McDonald isn’t in Australia to ride, but any improvement on that first run and he’ll take a power of beating heading towards the $5 million Golden Slipper.
Caulfield - Race 7 3:40pm AEDT
No. 2 I Wish I Win
Finally, we move south to Caulfield in our Saturday racing tips for the Group 1 Futurity Stakes. While Mr Brightside is a fitting favourite under these conditions, I’m going to have something on I Wish I Win in the Futurity.
He’d clearly had enough by the time he finished down the order in The Everest, but I Wish I Win was excellent in the autumn and winter of last year, adding the Kingsford Smith Cup to his mantle most notably.
He flies fresh and I am confident that the booking of Jamie Melham will be a big tick for his chances here – he can settle a little closer to the speed and rattle home as he always does!
Caulfield - Race 8 4:15pm AEDT
No. 15 Tempted
I’m siding with Tempted in this year’s Blue Diamond Stakes field.
Tempted debuted with an eye-catching performance and win over 1000m at Warwick Farm in December, while she returned to action to only just miss in the Widden Stakes at Rosehill earlier this month.
She turned in a really nice piece of work here in Melbourne earlier this week and is open to plenty of improvement.
