Elina Svitolina v Jessica Pegula
5.00am
Back Pegula to Cover the Games Handicap (-2.5) @ $1.75
Indian Wells Masters fourth seed Jessica Pegula takes on 23rd seed Elina Svitolina in the Round of 16.
Pegula boasts a 5-2 record against Svitolina, including a 6-3 7-6 victory at the recent Qatar Open. Svitolina’s last win over the American was at last year’s Olympics.
US Open finalist Pegula has had an up and down start to 2025 but reached the Adelaide International final and won the recent ATX Open, before putting away Magda Linette (6-4 6-2) and Wang Xinyu (6-2 6-1) so far at Indian Wells, where her best result was a quarter-final in 2021.
A semi-finalist here in 2019, Svitolina has accounted for Ashlyn Krueger (6-1 6-7 6-3) and Danielle Collins (6-2 6-4).
The Ukrainian had struggled for form since her excellent quarter-final run at the Australian Open but appears to be back on track.
Pegula is a $1.53 favourite and is in a better serving rhythm than Svitolina at present, while the psychological edge of winning their clash a month ago could prove crucial.
Elena Rybakina v Mirra Andreeva
5.00am
Back Andreeva to Win @ $1.83
Big guns Elena Rybakina and Mirra Andreeva square off for the second time in less than three weeks, this time in the Indian Wells Masters’ Round of 16.
Andreeva is searching for a repeat of her 6-4 4-6 6-3 victory in last month’s Dubai Championships semi-finals. Rybakina came from a set down to win their only other clash, at the 2023 China Open.
Rybakina won this tournament in 2023 but missed her title defence through injury. The world No.7 is 12-4 so far this season and has comfortably disposed of Suzan Lamens (6-3 6-3) and Katie Boulter (6-0 7-5) at Indian Wells.
Fresh off her maiden WTA 1000 triumph in Dubai – having eliminated Iga Swiatek in the quarters before her win over Rybakina, then defeating Clara Tauson in the final – Andreeva has put away Varvara Gracheva (7-5 6-4) and Tauson again (6-3 6-0).
The 17-year-old has climbed to a career-high No.11 and her giant-killing efforts in Dubai have sounded a warning to the rest of her tourmates. Andreeva is the narrowest of favourites here and it’s hard to argue. Rybakina is all class but hasn’t quite been at her best in 2025.
Holger Rune v Stefanos Tsitsipas
5.00am
Back Tsitsipas to Cover the Games Handicap (-1.5) @ $1.80
Stefanos Tsitsipas is striving to maintain his recent turnaround in form at the Indian Wells Masters, where he meets Holger Rune in the Round of 16.
Rune is 3-0 against Tsitsipas, chalking up wins at the 2022 French Open, the 2022 Stockholm Open final and in the 2023 ATP Finals.
After a dreadful start to 2025, Tsitsipas returned to the top 10 by winning the Dubai Championships – albeit without facing another seeded player. But he’s kept the roll going here at Palm Springs by defeating Thiago Seyboth Wild (6-2 6-4) and Matteo Berrettini (6-3 6-3) convincingly.
World No.13 Rune’s sole highlight this season was reaching the Australian Open’s Round of 16 and taking a set off Jannik Sinner. Following a string of early exits, the 21-year-old has gained some traction at Indian Wells with wins over Corentin Moutet (6-2 6-4) and Ugo Humbert (5-7 6-4 7-5).
Rune was a quarter-finalist here last year, while Tsitsipas’ only trip to the last eight at Indian Wells was in 2021. Tsitsipas, a $1.60 favourite, has shown enough over the past couple of weeks to suggest he will overcome his Rune bogey.
Tommy Paul v Daniil Medvedev
5.00am
Back Medvedev to Win @ $1.75
In a repeat of last year’s semi-final, Daniil Medvedev and Tommy Paul square off in the Indian Wells Masters’ Round of 16.
Medvedev rallied to take out last year’s showdown 1-6 7-6 6-2, which gave him a 3-0 record in the rivalry. But Paul prevailed in their sole encounter since – a straight-sets victory at the Rome Masters.
Tenth seed Paul has put away Tristan Boyer (6-3 6-1) and Cameron Norrie (6-3 7-5) so far, continuing a solid start to the season that included a semi-final in Adelaide, an Australian Open quarter-final run and another semi in Dallas.
World No.5 Medvedev thrashed Yunchaokete Bu 6-2 6-2 in the Round of 64 before Alex Michelsen retired just two games into their clash on Monday (AEDT).
Medvedev arrived at Indian Wells – where he has lost the last two finals – with an indifferent 8-5 record in 2025, suffering uncharacteristic losses to the likes of Learner Tien, Mattia Bellucci, Hamad Medjedovic and Tallon Griekspoor.
That inconsistency shapes a big opportunity for Paul, only a $2.00 outsider, but the American hasn’t chalked up a top-10 win since beating Grigor Dimitrov in October’s Stockholm Open final. A five-time ATP 1000 Masters title winner on hard courts, a fresh Medvedev still looks the value option.
