Adam Walton vs Coleman Wong
1.00am

Back Wong to Win @ $2.50

Lucky loser Adam Walton has parlayed his good fortune into a third-round appearance at the Miami Masters, where he lines up against Hong Kong tyro Coleman Wong.

Walton lost to fellow Aussie Tristan Schoolkate in qualifying, but a withdrawal catapulted him straight into the second round – and a 6-4 6-4 upset of Luciano Darderi.

It was only the world No.89’s second ATP 1000 victory, having notched his first at Indian Wells over Giulio Zeppieri before being knocked out by Denis Shahpovalov.

Wong, meanwhile, followed up a first-round win over Daniel Altmaier (6-4 6-3) with arguably the biggest win of his career to date, stunning 13th seed Ben Shelton 7-6 2-6 7-6.

The 20-year-old former junior star, ranked 182nd, is yet to play in a grand slam and had not previously won an ATP Masters match.

Wong has the psychological edge of winning a Challenger match against Walton in Thailand last year, 6-4 6-4. The underdog value is hard to overlook here after Wong’s performance against one of the tour’s big guns.

Alex de Minaur vs Joao Fonesca
1.00am

Back de Minaur to Win @ $1.80

Tenth seed Alex de Minaur confronts a Round of 32 test in the shape of Brazilian sensation Joao Fonesca at the Miami Masters.

Coming off a Round of 16 upset at the hands of Francisco Cerundolo at Indian Wells (after thrashing David Goffin and Hubert Hurkacz), de Minaur disposed of Bu Yunchaokete 6-4 6-4 in his opening assignment here.

World No.60 Fonesca outlasted fellow teenage star Learner Tien 6-7 6-3 6-4 in the first round, then dominated 19th seed Ugo Humbert 6-4 6-3. He went down to eventual champ Jack Draper in the second round at Indian Wells.

De Minaur is yet to progress past the fourth round at a Sunshine Double event, but he was the ATP 1000 Canadian Masters runner-up in 2023 and reached the quarters of the past two Paris Masters.

Fonesca is destined for the sport’s heights and it will take a level higher than de Minaur’s recent efforts to snuff out his charge, but ‘Demon’ should salute as a very narrow favourite.

Naomi Osaka vs Jasmine Paolini
1.00am

Back Paolini to Cover the Games Handicap (+3.5) @ $1.73

Former world No.1 Naomi Osaka meets current world No.6 Jasmine Paolini in the Miami Masters’ Round of 16.

Osaka, the 2022 runner-up in Miami, has bookended a dominant 6-2 6-4 win over 24th seed Liudmila Samsonova with tough three-set victories over less-credentialled duo Yulia Starodubtseva (3-6 6-4 6-3) and Hailey Baptiste (7-6 3-6 6-4).

Paolini, beaten by Samsonova in the Round of 16 at Indian Wells, put away Rebecca Sramkova 6-4 6-4 in her opening assignment here before Ons Jabeur retired during the first set of their Round of 32 clash.

It’s been an underwhelming start to 2025 for the French Open and Wimbledon runner-up, who also earned a maiden WTA 1000 success last year at the Dubai Championships.

Consequently, Osaka has been installed as a $1.53 favourite…but the superstar’s sole top-10 win since 2020 was against Jelena Ostapenko at last year’s US Open.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Danielle Collins
1.00am

Back Sabalenka to Cover the Games Handicap (-5.5) @ $2.00

World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka will look to continue her dominance over defending champion Danielle Collins when the high-profile pair square off in Miami Masters’ Round of 16.

Sabalenka is undefeated in six previous encounters with Collins, most recently at the Madrid and Rome Masters in quick succession in 2024. Three of the victories were at the US Open.

Untouchable at Indian Wells before losing to Mirra Andreeva in the final from a set up, Sabalenka has barely been troubled in Miami by Viktoriya Tomova (6-3 6-0) and Elena-Gabriela Ruse (6-1 ret).

Collins took a break after her crowd-baiting Australian Open campaign – which ended with a loss to eventual champ Madison Keys in the third round – but returned at Indian Wells, going down to Elina Svitolina in the Round of 32.

The 31-year-old has outlasted Sorana Cirstea (6-4 7-6) and Rebeka Masarova (6-4 3-6 6-3) so far in Miami, where she claimed the biggest tournament win of her career last year by beating Elena Rybakina in the final.

This is one of Sabalenka’s least fruitful WTA 1000 events; she was a quarter-finalist in 2021 and ’23.

But Collins has had few answers for her in the past and is unlikely to find them here, particularly given she has not beaten a top-10 opponent since last April.
