The rain has pelted Sydney all week and we’re set to be racing on a heavy track at Warwick Farm this Wednesday, May 21st.

With that in mind, I’ve kept my eye out for mudlarks and returned my Warwick Farm best bets below, featuring several horses proven on a rain-affected track.

Race 1 - 12:50pm

Cogburn Worlds Fastest Horse @ Widden Handicap (1600m)

Just Feelin’ Lucky has returned to the races in smart form and looks the one to beat again in Race 1 at Warwick Farm.

Just Feelin’ Lucky ended her last prep and eye-catching winner in maiden company and picked up where she left off by winning a BM68 in Newcastle.

Having only been denied by Drift Net here a fortnight ago, she steps out this week fit and primed to strike.

Race 2 - 1:25pm

Traffic Warden @ Darley Handicap (1100m)

Master Of The Air resumes with the benefit of one start during his debut preparation.

He was beaten more than three lengths by King Of Pop on debut here in February before going for a break, but Master Of The Air has reportedly furnished into a stronger horse, and a recent trial performance adds further confidence.

James McDonald rides and we can have an each way play at current odds ($7 at publish).

Race 3 - 2pm

Vinnie Three-Time Champion Sire Handicap (1100m)

Livin’ Thing takes winning form into this contest.

The Yes Yes Yes gelding trialled well ahead of his return at Kembla Grange earlier this month and hit the line to record a smart victory.

With natural improvement, something like this looks the next logical target.

Race 4 - 2:35pm

Asahi Super Dry Handicap (2110m)

Open race with plenty of key chances engaged, including Junebug, who I have put on top.

Junebug has turned in plenty of smart performances throughout a busy campaign and won in BM64 company at Wyong two back before filling the minors up in grade last time out.

There’s no doubting her fitness this week and if she can get an economical run in transit, I think she’ll be right in the finish again.

Race 5 - 3:10pm

Hawaii Five Oh @ Vinery Stud Handicap (1100m)

Apex is second up and primed to strike at Warwick Farm.

The Exceedance gelding has missed placing once in six trips to the races so far, and returned from a break to finish second behind Cassiel at Canterbury.

He’s unproven on the heavy, but he’s clearly the one to beat here if he does handle it.

Race 6 - 3:45pm

Drinkwise Mile (1600m)

Sounds Unusual is well placed at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

Sounds Unusual hasn’t missed placing in four trips to the races, ending his debut prep with a maiden victory, while he returned to action with an eye-catching performance over this route to only just miss.

Two goes on a rain-affected track have resulted in him finishing the runner up on both occasions, and with natural improvement, I’m confident he can return to winning form this week.

Race 7 - 4:20pm

Benchmark 72 Handicap (1300m)

I’m going to give Little Cointreau another chance third-up at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

Little Cointreau dusted off the cobwebs with a fair effort to finish fourth, beaten more than two lengths here when resuming, and while he again finished fourth on the Kensington track at Randwick las time out, he was only denied a length.

Fitter third-up, this looks a great opportunity for him.
