Royal Randwick hosts ten races this Saturday, May 24th.

Inclement weather has plagued the Sydney metropolitan area all week and we’re set to be racing on a heavy track this week, and with that in mind, I’ve included plenty of proven mudlarks in my Randwick best bets.

You can find ten Randwick tips below!

Race 1 - 11am

Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation Handicap (1200m)

Sequista looks well placed in the first at Randwick.

Sequista filled the minors of the Inglis Nursery on debut in December, and she returned to action with a fair effort for fourth behind the likes of Tempted in the Percy Sykes Stakes last month.

This is the easiest task she’s been set and she’s open to further improvement.

Race 2 - 11:35am

Midway Handicap (1400m)

First Mission takes winning form into this contest.

First Mission has finished worse than second once in five trips to the races and returned to action with his best performance to date late last month, hitting the line more than a length ahead of his rivals in BM64 company at Canterbury.

He strips fitter for that run and something like this looks within his abilities as well.

Race 3 - 12:10pm

Highway Handicap (1200m)

So You Pence chances a hat-trick in this week’s Highway Handicap.

So You Pence finished a credible second behind a fit Xcessive Force in Class 1 company first up from and spell and has since recorded dominant victories in BM58 and BM74 company.

She’s hard fit and is ready for a crack at something of this quality.

Race 4 - 12:45pm

Chalouhi Handicap (1800m)

Hurstville Zagreb has hardly put a hoof wrong since debuting and looms as the one to beat in Race 4 at Randwick.

Hurstville Zagbred stamped himself as a horse to follow after producing a dominant performance to win on debut at Goulburn in February and he kept alive his unbeaten record at Canterbury second up.

Despite having suffered his first defeat when returning to action to finish second behind Enter The Dragon in a photo a fortnight ago, he’s open to plenty of improvement, he’s a winner on the heavy previously, and he’s my best bet on the program.

Race 5 - 1:20pm

PF Civil Handicap (2400m)

This is an open race with plenty of winning chances engaged, including Trapalanda at huge odds ($27 at publish).

Trapalanda has finished fifth at each of his first two runs back this time, but there’s no doubt his fitness has improved for each.

His form over in Ireland during his debut preparation was excellent and improved with a couple of starts, and as he got further out in trip.

A mile and a half this week suits and we can have an each way play at the price.

Race 6 - 1:55pm

Taylor Construction Handicap (1000m)

Grand Larceny can win again at Randwick.

The Team Hawkes-trained galloper ended his last preparation with consecutive victories and picked up where he left off via a dominant effort on the Caulfield Heath.

This is a rise in class and the barrier is a knock, but he boasts an excellent second up record, and it looks an ideal Saturday metro target.

Race 7 - 2:30pm

Fujitsu Airstage Handicap (2000m)

Zaphod looks well placed second up at Randwick.

Zaphod has raced consistently in ten starts since debuting, winning four times and placing as many, and finding form around above average opposition.

He worked home well to finish just over a head second behind an in-form and fit Les Vampires here at Randwick last time out, and with the benefit of that run, and getting further out in trip this week, he looks tough to beat.

Race 8 - 3:05pm

The Charity Challenge Handicap (1600m)

I’m keen to stick with Green Fly third up and at the mile.

Green Fly couldn’t have been more impressive over 1400m at Rosehill first up from a spell, but he was a little flat in a second start back that saw him finish seven lengths behind Punch Lane.

A mile is suitable, he’s a multiple winner on heavy and he has options this week under Andrew Adkins.

Race 9 - 3:45pm

Magnolia Lane Financial Services Handicap (1400m)

Hiyaam Proud rates as a key winning chance fresh from a spell.

Hiyaam Proud hasn’t been seen at the races since November, but he raced consistently in races not dissimilar to this one last time in, and he’s trialled up nicely ahead of Saturday’s return.

He’s yet to finish worse than second at this point of his prep and can set himself up for another nice preparation by winning.

Race 10 - 4:25pm

Wilson Asset Management Handicap (1400m)

Drift Net takes winning form into the last at Randwick and looks well placed again.

The Exceed And Excel mare finished off the pace at Warwick Farm when resuming but enjoyed big improvement into a comfortable victory at the same track last time out.

This is harder, but she strips fitter and goes well on a rain-affected track.
