Marketa Vondrousova vs Jessica Pegula
6.00pm

Back Vondrousova to Cover the Games Handicap (+3.5) @ $1.83

Former French Open runner-up Marketa Vondrousova confronts third seed Jessica Pegula in a third-round blockbuster on Saturday.

Their only previous clash was at Wimbledon in 2023, with Vondrousova winning their quarter-final 6-4 2-6 6-4 on her way to the title.

Vondrousova is clinging to a spot inside the top 100 after an injury-hampered period that saw her miss the Australian Open, the Sunshine Double and both WTA 1000 clay events. But she’s hit the ground running in Paris, beating Oksana Selekhmeteva (6-4 6-4) and Magdalena Frech (6-0 4-6 6-3).

Pegula’s clay swing has nosedived since winning the Charleston Open in early-April, but she disposed of Anca Todoni (6-2 6-4) and Ann Li (6-3 7-6) in the first two rounds this week.

The 2024 US Open runner-up was a quarter-finalist here in 2022. Vondrousova, the beaten finalist back in 2019, reached the quarters last year – and is a tempting proposition as a $2.55 outsider given her previous clay-court exploits.

Madison Keys vs Sofia Kenin
6.00pm

Back Keys to Win 2-0 @ $2.00

A pair of Australian Open champions square off in the third round of the French Open, with seventh seed Madison Keys a $1.40 favourite to beat 31st seed Sofia Kenin.

Keys is 3-1 against Kenin. Their only encounter since 2019 saw Keys win a tight first-round encounter at the 2022 Australian Open.

After winning the Australian Open and reaching the Indian Wells semis, 30-year-old Keys’ clay highlight was reaching the Madrid quarters. She has been completely dominant in her two Roland Garros matches so far, destroying Daria Saville (6-2 6-1) and Katie Boulter (6-1 6-3).

Kenin, the Australian Open winner and French Open runner-up in 2020, has disposed of Varvara Gracheva (6-3 6-1) and former world No.1 Victoria Azarenka (7-6 6-4) in impressive style this week – carrying on an impressive season.

The 26-year-old is gunning for her first Round of 16 appearance at a grand slam since the 2021 French Open. Keys’ best Roland Garros result was a semi-final appearance back in 2018.

A reliable big-tournament performer, Keys’ efforts this week are enough to get behind her to progress in two close sets.

Andrey Rublev vs Arthur Fils
6.00pm

SGM – Back Rublev to Win and Over 39.5 Total Games @ $3.05

Top-20 seeds Andrey Rublev and Arthur Fils meet in one of the more intriguing French Open third-round matches.

The head-to-head is one-all. Rublev won at the 2024 Hong Kong Open, while Fils takes a big psychological edge into this one after a 6-2 6-3 Monte-Carlo Masters demolition last month.

World No.14 Fils has been in fine form, reaching ATP 1000 quarter-finals in Indian Wells, Miami and Monte-Carlo, and reaching the Barcelona Open semis. He’s had to dig deep to beat Nicolas Jarry (6-3 6-4 6-7 6-3) and Jaume Munar (7-6 7-6 2-6 0-6 6-4) this week.

Rublev, who has slipped to No.15 in a tough season to date, defeated Lloyd Harris (6-4 4-6 6-3 6-1) and Adam Walton (7-6 6-1 7-6) in the first two rounds.

The two-time French Open quarter-finalist arrived in Paris with a bit of momentum after reaching the Hamburg Open final last week. A vastly superior clay-court CV – and Fils’ second-round marathon – might be enough to get Rublev through this assignment.

Jannik Sinner vs Jiri Lehecka
6.00pm

SGM – Back Sinner to Win and Lehecka to Win a Set @ $2.24

It’s been smooth sailing so far at the French Open for world No.1 Jannik Sinner, but the third round presents a decent challenge in the shape of $9 underdog Jiri Lehecka.

Sinner is 3-0 against Lehecka, including straight-sets wins during 2024 at Indian Wells (6-3 6-3) and the Beijing Open (6-2 7-6).

The reigning US and Australian Open champion returned from a three-month suspension with an outstanding run to the Rome Masters final, before kicking off his Roland Garros campaign with wins over Frenchmen Arthur Rinderknech (6-4 6-3 7-5) and Richard Gasquet (6-3 6-0 6-4).

Fellow 23-year-old Lehecka demolished Jordan Thompson 6-4 6-2 6-1 in the first round then accounted for 26th seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-3 3-6 6-1 6-2 for his best French Open result.

The world No.34, an Australian Open quarter-finalist two years ago, had endured a fairly underwhelming clay season to date but produced some good performances in Hamburg last week.

Sinner is the complete package and it’s hard to see him getting into too much trouble here, but big-hitting Czech Lehecka is a real handful and is solid value to nab a set.
