Ballarat - Race 1 11:55am AEST
Basel Maestro chased home the promising Sizzlesun at Hamilton last start and there is no horse of that quality in this field. He put a gap on the rest of the field in that race and I like the fact that in-form trainer Mitchell Freedman has given him a barrier trial between race starts. He has an outstanding chance to claim a maiden race win.
Ballarat - Race 5 2:20pm AEST
Sky Royale showed plenty of toughness to record a maiden race win at Bendigo last start and I still think that he has the scope to improve on that performance. Alana Kelly will be able to take him straight to the front in the early stages of this contest and he will prove tough to run down. The $6.50 currently available is over the odds.
Ballarat - Race 6 2:50pm AEST
Protection Money could hardly have been more impressive when he returned to the races at Ballarat last start. He was forced to do plenty of work in the early stages of the race, but he was still able to unleash some impressive closing sectionals to score a dominant win. A repeat of that effort would make him very tough to beat.
Ballarat - Race 9 4.20pm AEST
Royal Duty is a better filly than her last start effort at Morphettville suggests. She was simply unable to get into that contest and I am happy to put a line through that effort. Her win before that at Mildura was excellent and she has previously won on a Synthetic track. I am confident that she is the best horse in this field.
