Gosford - Race 6 4.15pm AEDT
Marble recorded an impressive win at Hawkesbury in his final race start before being sent to the spelling paddock and he has trialed nicely ahead of his return to the races this afternoon. He is a horse that does have plenty of upside and the quality has come out of this race in a big way following the scratchings. He should be too good for this field.
Ladbrokes Park - Race 4 5.00pm AEDT
Sherlock Holmes improved each time that he was seen at the races during his maiden racing campaign and the fact that he is resuming over 2400 metres is a big positive. Ben Melham will ensure that this turns into a genuine staying contest and if he brings his best form to the races the import will prove too good.
Ladbrokes Park - Race 5 5:30pm AEDT
Kirk Ella was excellent first-up last campaign and she raced well without winning for the rest of her campaign. 1000 metres does look like a trip that will suit her and she showed in her last start at Cranbourne that she is capable of settling right on the speed. She is capable of making a winning return to the races.
Ladbrokes Park - Race 7 6.30pm AEDT
Moscow Red is a very consistent mare that is well and truly over the odds at the current price of $7. I like the fact that the trainer Henry Dwyer has given her a barrier trial between race starts and she does have the early speed to cross the rest of the field from the wide barrier draw. She should be able to find the lead and will prove tough to run down.
