New York Yankees vs New York Mets
Today’s game is a makeup from July’s Subway Series rain out. Both teams won one game apiece during that series, but the Yankees will be feeling a little worried with Luis Severino on the mound for today’s rubber match. Their top rotation arm has been horrible over the last month, allowing 26 combined earned runs in six starts. Severino has particularly struggled against much weaker line ups (White Sox, Royals, Rays) so that should work in the Mets’ favour.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Francisco Giants
This fierce West Coast rivalry holds plenty of implications for the Dodgers. A win for Los Angeles could see the Dodgers reclaim the division lead in the NL West, but they’ll have their work cut out for them against lefty Madison Bumgarner today. Fortunately for the Dodgers, the last time MadBum visited LA he allowed three earned runs and two homers back in June. The Dodgers’ bats are red hot right now, and should have this one at home.
Sri Lanka vs South Africa
These two teams have gone back and forth over the last month in ODI and test cricket action, with both sides winning their fair share of the contests. Sri Lanka were down 0-3 during the ODI series, but fought back to make things look a little more respectable by winning the next two games. The last match in that series showed plenty of spin, so if Sri Lanka’s bowlers can execute, they’re a real chance at an upset here.
