New Zealand Warriors vs. Melbourne Storm
The Warriors secured a huge win over the Broncos last week in Brisbane to prop themselves back up to seventh on the ladder, but it will take something pretty special to knock off the Storm this afternoon. Melbourne are on a five game unbeaten run, and given New Zealand’s ordinary 4-4 record at Mt. Smart Stadium, it’s tough to back the Warriors in this one. Unlike New Zealand, the Storm have been great at home, but equally impressive on the road.
Manly Sea Eagles vs. Sydney Roosters
The Roosters have to feel pretty good ahead of their trip to Brookvale this afternoon. Last week’s win over the Titans was nothing short of remarkable given Sydney’s limited squad, and with names like Latrell Mitchell, Cooper Cronk and Boyd Cordner all expected to play today, the Roosters enter as heavy favourites. Manly have won three of the last five meetings between these two, but the Roosters 5-2 record as the away favourite says all you need to know.
Port Adelaide vs. GWS Giants
Just when we think the Giants are done and dusted, they bounce back with a resounding win over the reigning premiers at home. Sitting ninth on the ladder, the Giants now have a tough trip to Adelaide Oval ahead of them, but this is a ground GWS have found some success on. The last time the Giants played the Power down south, they won 79-60 back in 2016. It’s a while in between drinks, but with the Power looking a little suspect in defence last week, all it will take is for the Giants to apply the same kind of pressure tactics they used last week against Richmond.
