AFLW 2019

The AFLW is Australia’s national Aussie Rules football league for women. The league is run by the AFL, and is contested between 10 clubs spanning across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia.

Founded in 2016, the inaugural season of AFLW began in 2017 with a total of eight teams. Despite its young history, the first match was held in 2013 between Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs following an inquiry from the AFL Commission surrounding the state of grassroots football in Australia.

Since then, the AFLW has become a popular competition drawing fans in the thousands. The first premiership game was played on March 25, 2017 between Brisbane and the Western Bulldogs, drawing a crowd of over 15,000 people.

Likewise, AFLW remains a popular play for punters gearing up for the men’s season, and with a further four expansion clubs announced for the 2020 season (Gold Coast, Richmond, St. Kilda, West Coast), be sure to check out all of our markets and previews below.

2019 AFLW Round 1

Round 1 tips off with five huge games to choose from. The reigning premiers are in action against the Crows on Saturday night, but make sure you keep an eye on Sunday’s meeting between the Giants and Lions. Brisbane will be desperate to make up for last year’s six-point disappointment in the Grand Final, and there’s some handy odds on offer for the Lions at home.
