Ladbrokes Tip: Proven Group 1 performers at Randwick make a good tip in the All Aged Stakes.
The All Aged Stakes is one of two top level Group 1 races run on a Saturday towards the end of April at Randwick Racecourse during the annual Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.
After the two The Championships meetings that proceed it, All Aged Stakes Day is headlined by the namesake race and the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) for two-year-olds.
Offering $600,000 in total prize money the All Aged Stakes winner takes out $360,000 for connections. The weight-for-age classic is a middle distance sprint contested over 1400m and there are no lead-up races offering a ballot exemption into the All Aged Stakes field. As such there are a variety of lead-up races the All Aged Stakes winners have come out of over recent years, but earlier Sydney autumn features have been the best guide for punters.
The latest edition of the All Aged Stakes took place on Saturday April 15, 2017.

All Aged Stakes Odds & Betting
All Aged Stakes betting markets are usually led by horses coming off a top two finish in a Group 1 Sydney lead-up earlier in the autumn. From 2004 – 2017 just four All Aged Stakes winners ran worse than second in their lead-up runs including Dissident (2015) who improved on a Futurity Stakes third at Caulfield in late February, English (2016) who ran third in the TJ Smith Stakes in her final lead-up and Tivaci in 2017 who improved on a TJ Smith Stakes fourth.
The Futurity Stakes – All Aged Stakes double was achieved just a couple of years earlier by three-year-old All Too Hard (2013).
Favourites have an excellent recent record in the race with six of the 12 winners from 2006 – 2017 jumping as the punters’ pick. The last double figure winner was back in 2001 when El Mirada ($31) scored an upset over third placed favourite Sunline, who won the editions either side in 2000 and 2002.
Three-year-olds have a recent good strike rate with two of the six winners from 2012 – 2017, while mares have more than held their own with six wins since 2000 plus the filly Atlantic Jewel getting the job done of the boys in 2012 and English saluting as a three-year-old filly in 2016.
