The Major League Baseball World Series is the “grand final” of the professional men’s MLB season in North America deciding the year’s MLB champions. After the regular season the post-season MLB tournament culminates with the baseball World Series between the two MLB League Champions.

A best-of-season baseball championship series, the Modern World Series has been played and won since 1903. The 1903 World Series saw the Pittsburgh Pirates from the National League (NL) and the precursor club to the Red Sox the Boston Americans of the American League (AL) face off, with Boston celebrating a five-to-three game victory.

When it comes to the MLB World Series the most successful baseball team with 27 series wins from 40 played is the New York Yankees (AL). They hold a huge lead in the World Series title department with the next best with 11 championships being the St. Louis Cardinals (11). Up until 2017 the American League MLB teams have dominated the World Series results with 64 of the 112 wins thanks primarily to the success of the Yankees.

  • The American League (AL) has 64 World Series wins
  • The National League (NL) has 48 World Series wins – most recently the Chicago Cubs in 2016

World Series baseball betting is open all season long with MLB odds offered on all 30 teams to take out the championship title.
