Kilmore Harness Preview – Thursday, March 26

OVERVIEW: MY ULTIMATE LUIGI (8) last start doesn’t look great on paper, but he was caught behind horses and held up late. He looked ready to let down well. He is racing well and will need luck from the barrier, but I’m happy to stick with him. ALTA BAYAMO (7) is a high-speed runner. He has good gate speed but is also excellent when saved for one run late. If he can get into a handy position and not work too hard, he will be storming home. RETURN SERVE (2) made a winning debut for Casey Leijen last start. He has sufficient gate speed and an ideal barrier to use to his advantage. PERCESSION (1) is a lightly raced, well-bred gelding. His run improved last start and he has a good barrier to get a comfortable run. 

BACK: MY ULTIMATE LUIGI (8) – 2 units (win)
SELECTIONS: MY ULTIMATE LUIGI (8), ALTA BAYAMO (7), RETURN SERVE (2), PERCESSION (1) 

OVERVIEW: A very interesting race here, a maiden over the 2690-metre trip. This could suit a few runners and help them break through but may challenge others. None of these horses have seen the trip before. This may be what SWEET FACE (2) needs to break through for his first win at start 102. Fitness won’t be an issue and he has the durability and experience. LAZENBY (4) is third up for Sam Barker and has the best sectional times in the field. OPERTSER (1) has the ace barrier and won’t need to cover extra ground. IMGUNNARESTNGO (8) should be able to settle into a comfortable fence position without being used early.

OVERVIEW: SUFFARELL HILL (9) has shown plenty of promise in her three starts. She is very well bred, out of top NZ broodmare Whosinthenest by Muscle Hill. She is still learning but looks to have a future. WOMAN TO LOVE (6) is a first starter with good trial form, defeating consistent trotter Champagnes in a Maryborough trial earlier this month. SAMBEZIA (7) was good when second two starts back but got it wrong last start. He is a winning chance but needs to trot. MISS HOLLY RED (8) was much improved last start when second behind Coltrane and will need luck from the barrier. 

BACK: SUFFARELL HILL (9) – 2 units (win) 

SELECTIONS: SUFFARELL HILL (9), WOMAN TO LOVE (6), SAMBEZIA (7), MISS HOLLY RED (8) 

OVERVIEW: MIKI MARK (9) was very good first up when racing in the breeze and finishing third. He will improve from that run. TOPHUT JOHNY (2)’s numerical form doesn’t look great, but he maps well here with sufficient gate speed. The Herbertson–Graham combination is always a positive. PRECIOUS BELLE (7) has an awkward map but is the best swooper in the field and will be flashing home. DASHING COWBOY (1) is the winner of the barrier draw and should get a comfortable run. 

BACK: MIKI MARK (9) – 2 units (win) 

SELECTIONS: MIKI MARK (9), TOPHUT JOHNY (2), PRECIOUS BELLE (7), DASHING COWBOY (1) 

OVERVIEW: ELLEEGANT LANE (7) was a good winner when leading at Cranbourne last start. The run prior she smashed the line from the back. She will need to rely on her speed from the awkward barrier but is racing well. ALLGOOD VINNIE (9) was dominant winning two starts back at Bendigo by 23.5 metres. Last start he had a tricky barrier and got too far back. He has improved since joining the Ashleigh Herbertson stable. CROCODILE BLOOD (8) broke through with a well-deserved maiden win last start. He will need luck but has confidence now. TASTE IT (3) has been racing a bit erratically recently. If her manners hold, she’s an each-way chance. 

BACK: ELLEEGANT LANE (7) – 2 units (win) 

SELECTIONS: ELLEEGANT LANE (7), ALLGOOD VINNIE (9), CROCODILE BLOOD (8), TASTE IT (3) 

OVERVIEW: HEZ HARRYWHO (7) has outstanding gate speed but can also swoop when saved for one run. Despite the awkward barrier, he has options. METRO MEMORY (2) is third up and can run well at his best. He was unlucky last start but hit the line strongly. He should map better here. DAUGHTER OF DARKNESS (5) is a lightly raced, well-bred mare first up. With the right run she will be flashing late. James Herbertson takes the drive again. WINGATE GUY (4) will need luck but can finish off strongly. 

SELECTIONS: HEZ HARRYWHO (7), METRO MEMORY (2), DAUGHTER OF DARKNESS (5), WINGATE GUY (4) 

OVERVIEW: KISS AT MIDNIGHT (6) generally performs well when she does everything right. If she trots throughout, she will be very competitive. ATTRACTED (4) was excellent winning three starts back at Shepparton. He broke at the start after that but hit the line well last time. He has the best sectional times here. GOLDEN SKIES (8) is the only runner on the second line and has options. Respect from the Svanosio stable. I AM HARRO (5) is a talented trotter who got everything right last start to win. He will need to overcome a tricky barrier. 

BACK: KISS AT MIDNIGHT (6) – 2 units (win) 

SELECTIONS: KISS AT MIDNIGHT (6), ATTRACTED (4), GOLDEN SKIES (8), I AM HARRO (5) 

OVERVIEW:MACHO MAORI (7)is racing well and has the best sectional times in the field. The outside barrier makes it tricky, but he has the ability. MISTA WALKER (6) is in a similar position. Both are racing well but have awkward barriers and look the standout runners. GUNSEN ROSIE (1) should map perfectly from barrier one and suits even-run races. If the tempo is genuine, she will be right in the finish. MASSIF CENTRAL (8)generally leads but will need a different map from the second row. The change may suit.
