The Gold Coast Guineas is a Group 3 race held at the Gold Coast Racecourse* during the early stages of the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival on a Saturday at the start of May.

*The 2024 Gold Coast Guineas and entire A.D. Hollindale Stakes Day card ran at the Sunshine Coast Racecourse. 

The feature event at the meeting, the A.D. Hollindale Stakes is run over 1400m under weight-for-age conditions and now offers a generous $500,000 in prize money. The Group 3 Ken Russell Memorial Classic (1200m) for JJ Atkins-bound two-year-olds is the other major event on the card.

The Gold Coast Guineas is the key support act on AD Hollindale Stakes Day and is contested over 1200m. The event is run at set weights and is open only to three-year-olds. Offering $200,000 in prize money, the Gold Coast Guineas serves as a key lead-up into tougher feature races over the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival.

The latest edition of the Gold Coast Guineas ran on Saturday May 11, 2024 at the Sunshine Coast Racecourse (moved from the Gold Coast for 2023 and 2024) on a Heavy track and was won by the James Cummings-trained Corniche ($3.20F) who backed off a fourth in Sydney’s Arrowfield Sprint to win in Queensland by a half-length with J-Mac in the saddle.

In 2024 Corniche won the Gold Coast Guineas at the Sunshine Coast on the back of a fourth in the Group 2 $1 million Arrowfield 3YO Sprint (1200m) in Sydney the month before.
