Gunsynd Classic Barrier Statistics
There has been a good mix of winners of the Gunsynd Classic in reference to barrier draws.
2025 winner Just Feelin’ Lucky came from barrier 7 as a $5 chance, and it didn’t need much luck in running to win from there. However, Based Loaded won in 2024 from barrier 15, so they can win from anywhere.
The 2023 and 2022 winners came from barrier four, which enabled them to find a good spot in the running. It’s a valuable draw to have, so we would focus on runners with barriers 1-5 for the Gunsynd Classic.
The last winner to come off the inside draw was Ayrton in 2021, who was the raging-hot favourite at $1.75. Had it drawn wide, the odds would have been bigger, so the best betting strategy is to find horses that enjoy settling close to the speed from a positive barrier.
Gunsynd Classic Betting
Gunsynd Classic betting markets are led by the season’s top-performing three-year-olds with previous winning form over the mile.
Any last-start winners in similar grade winter races in Brisbane also sit high up the Gunsynd Classic odds each season, as do the interstate raiders with three-year-olds prepared outside of Queensland having a dominant recent record.
The Chris Waller-trained Rediener (2023) was the latest last start winner to take out the Gunsynd Classic in Brisbane.
Ayrton ($1.75 in 2021) followed by Kiss Sum ($3.30 in 2022) are the last favourites in Gunsynd Classic betting to salute for the punters.
In 2023 Yellow Brick ($1.35) jumped odds-on in Gunsynd Classic betting but couldn’t run down the upset winner Rediener ($9.50) when finishing a devastatingly close second.

Gunsynd Classic Field
The Gunsynd Classic race field features a quality line-up of nice three-year-olds from both local and interstate stables.
The key lead-up into the Gunsynd Classic field is now the Group 3 Fred Best Classic (1400m) run a fortnight earlier. Ayrton (2nd in 2021), Kiss Sum (2nd in 2022) and Bases Loaded (5th in 2024) are the latest Gunsynd Classic winners to come via a Fred Best Classic run.
Gunsynd Classic nominations close the Monday before the race with the final field and barriers out on the Wednesday.
