The set weights plus penalties showdown is open to horses aged three-years-old and above and offers $250,000 in prize money as of 2024.

It is one key support acts on the end-of-autumn meeting that is headlined by the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m).

First held in 1978, the event is named in honour of great Sydney galloper Hall Mark who won races including the Doncaster Handicap, Australian Derby, Champagne Stakes, and Sires’ Produce between 1933 and 1936.

Run over a mile (1600m) for the opening edition, the race went up to 2000m from 1979 until coming back to its current distance of six furlongs (1200m) in 1980.

Having held Group 3 status since 2014, the Hall Mark Stakes has been won by a number of quality horses over the years including dual The Everest hero Redzel (2017) ahead of his first victory in the inaugural running of the world’s richest turf race that spring.

The latest edition of the Hall Mark Stakes ran at Royal Randwick on Saturday April 20, 2024 on All Aged Stakes Day and saw Group 1 winner Mazu ($5) finally return to winning form.

  • To Win: #7 Front Page ($2.15 at time of publish) – BET NOW

Matthew Dale-trained favourite Front Page is very short in the markets but deserving of the price looking hard to beat second-up down in grade. Last year’s The Kosciuszko winner made a good return finishing a close third at Rosehill from a wide alley in the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m). Gets a better go of it here from barrier two against just eight rivals in a Group 3. The 1200m is ideal, he’s fitter for his resuming run in top grade, and is undefeated with a two-from-two Randwick record. Wins.

Hall Mark Stakes Form Guide

The Hall Mark Stakes form guide is a must to look over before betting as it gives punters all the essential information like the jockeys, trainers and barriers of the gallopers in the field.

The Hall Mark Stakes form has gone on to hold up in tougher grader races many times over the years including when the 2020 champion Trekking went on to perform at the highest level and win that year’s Stradbroke Handicap before a third in The Everest trifecta that spring.

Trekking also won the Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m) in Adelaide after running second in a failed Hall Mark Stakes title defence the following year and record many more Group 1 placings over his illustrious career for Godolphin.
