SA Fillies Classic 2022

The SA Fillies Classic is a Group 3 staying showdown for three-year-old fillies run and won at Morphettville Racecourse in South Australia each May during the Adelaide Autumn Racing Carnival.

Contested over 2500m and offering just over $150,000 in prize money, the event is run at set weights and takes place as a key support act on The Goodwood Day where racing is headlined by the Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m).

Other notable events on the card include the Group 3 RA Lee Stakes (1600m), Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes (1200m) and the Group 3 National Stakes (1200m).

First run in 1951 as the South Australian Oaks, the race has been known as the South Australian Fillies Classic since 2009 and was also previously held in the spring up until 1985.

After beginning as a Principal Race, the event held Group 1 status from 1980-2004. It was later downgraded to a Group 2 race from 2005-06 before becoming a Group 3 event from 2007 onwards.

The next edition of the SA Fillies Classic runs on Saturday May 21, 2022 at Morphettville Racecourse.

The 2022 South Australian Fillies Classic final field features a smart line-up of three-year-olds led by the widely-drawn favourite Douceur coming off a close fifth in the Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2000m) at big odds.
