SA Fillies Classic 2024

The SA Fillies Classic is a Group 3 staying showdown for three-year-old fillies run and won at Morphettville Racecourse in South Australia each May during the Adelaide Autumn Racing Carnival.

Contested over 2500m and offering $170,000 in prize money as of 2024, the event is run at set weights and takes place as a key support act on The Goodwood Day where racing is headlined by the Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m).

Other notable events on the card include the Group 3 The Cummings Stakes (RA Lee Stake) (1600m), Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes (1200m), and the Group 3 National Stakes (1200m) currently run as the David Coles AM Stakes.

First run in 1951 as the South Australian Oaks, the race has been known as the South Australian Fillies Classic since 2009 and was also previously held in the spring up until 1985.

After beginning as a Principal Race, the event held Group 1 status from 1980-2004. It was later downgraded to a Group 2 race from 2005-06 before becoming a Group 3 event from 2007 onwards.

The latest edition of the SA Fillies Classic ran on Saturday May 11, 2024 at Morphettville Racecourse and was won by Andrew Forman’s NZ Oaks runner-up, Positivity ($2.30F), who saluted for the punters by two lengths.
