It has been held on various dates over the years and was moved from October to November ahead of the 2023 edition to run on the same card as the Group 1 $1 million Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m).

This season the 2023 Thousand Guineas ran on Saturday November 18, 2023 having been moved to November joining the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes Day card and was won by the Chris Waller-trained Joliestar ($4.60).
